Hi Bob,
Maybe could be that the hi-compression motors (pre '71) were that much more efficient. Plus I have no polution devices other than a PCV valve but I do have PS & PB. I don't know what I get around town - probably 14 at best.
I bought a 10x20 steel Garage that was about $1800 installed. One Corvette stays in the house attached 2-car garage and the other stays in the 10x20. My property is only 1/4 acre.
You really know you're old when you can put original '69 plates on you vehicle and the plates came from a vehicle you had. I did that on my '69 Corvette - put the plates that I had from my '69 Road Runner that I bought new.
Are you sure they are in the right position. I noticed on a buddies '67 that he had the return spring on the carb to the rear of the motor when it should have been on the carb to the front of the motor. It was the wrong spring to start with and stretched too much. For your year, I'm not sure...
What kind of driving gives you 7 mpg? I'd do a trip at 55-60 mpg to determine your best potential mpg. With headers, it will take longer for the motor to warm up than if you had a standard manifolds with a heat riser. I would WAG that the best you could hope for is trip mileage of 15 mpg tops...
Without using a spring compressor and just using a floor jack, I've found the easiest way to insert the new spring as follows:
1. put the top of the spring into the tower
2. put the bottom of the spring into the lower control arm but not into the recess where it will eventially end up - it...
Personally, I avoid "kits" and buy MOOG front end parts. I'll pay more but I don't care. My labor time isn't worth putting no-name parts on my cars. My .02
Sitting in the driver seat, looking upward at the top of the windshield, are there 3 levers (1 at both edges and one in the middle) clamping the top to the top windshield frame. In the rear compartment, there would be 2 threaded bolts coming down into it from the top, holding the top with...
If you have to ask this question, I think you'll be more happy with an auto. A stick driver knows what he wants and wouldn't be asking this question. That being said, and what I'm going to say does not apply to the newer Corvettes - when looking for my first corvette back in '73, I had no...
Definately a convert. with a lift off hard top converted so that t-top's were added. Someone put a lot of work on this. I'd check the frame out to make sure it wasn't in a major accident. If not, great. Looks like a quality job and I'd not worry that it will never be a Bloomington Gold...
Could have had a front clip replacement since the shark gills are post '69. Just noticed, your door handles aren't '68. '68 had the push button. From what I can see in the photo, you have the '69 or later door handle style. Either the car has had a major redo as far as fiberglass...
