Well it turns out an Emergency Brake spring in the rear hub snapped and was causing that horrible noise in the rear. The spring was not rusted and I don't use the Emergency Brake, so go figure. I ordered the SS replacement kit for the Emergency Brake so hopefully this will not happen again.

I know our Vettes don't have the rubber head bolt referenced in the 1981 Shop Manual, but there has to be something besides the outside L shaped piece with 2 bolts and slots to limit the "UP" movement. This car is all original and there has to be something similar to the bolt adustment...

Adding Marvel Mystery Oil to the gas raises the boiling point of E90 gasoline. Also, Tetra Ethyl Lead also increases the boiling point. I've added both to my gasoline.
