My question is very simple - are the brake push rods on our 1981 Corvettes adjustable i.e. capable of being lengthened? If so, is there a threaded end on the MC side or is it a brake pedal side adjustment?
I can ony speak for my '81. I've owned it since 1983. It's 100% original and has never been a problem at 34,000 miles. It starts up 1st try cold and even after sitting for weeks/months. I just filled it up and got 15 MPG in mixed driving - exactly what the window sticker claimed for this car...
That makes the most sense as the CC "could" force a WOT condition. Nothing else makes any sense; especially since my foot was on the brake (which should disengage the non-engaged CC anyway). This has only happened 3x in 29 years, but it only takes 1x to really scare you. I don't use the CC...
No clue Peter . . . the reason I'm asking is that my 100% original 1981 surged for the 3rd time in the past 8 years and someone suggested I research these TSBs. By "surged," the car was idling at 550 RPMs and while my foot was still on the brake, the engine suddenly soared to 5,000+ RPMs...
Interesting! The 1981 was only rated at 15 MPG new. Mine gets between 10 and 12 MPG (totally original w/33,000 miles) on this stuff they market as gasoline. If you see 15, you're doing very well! I used to use Premium; now run Regular at these crazy prices with no difference in performance...
I have the window sticker in my hand for my Bowling Green produced car delivered in California. Below the Standard items at no extra charge is the "Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price of this model including Dealer Preparation at $16,258.52. Optional equipment is then listed below and...
Peter -
Well, I spent yet another hour under the car and the only "bolt" I found was the one large one in the center of the assembly that adjusts the "DOWN' position of the cover. I did see two bolts that held the spring assemblies and they are in slots indicating up/down movement/adjustment...
This is how the Tag should look. "1" indicates1981, "23" is my calendar date of manufacture, and "NR" is common to all. I printed it on photo paper and then semi-gloss clear coated it front and back.
I posted this on the C3 General Discussion Forum - it really belongs here. I made up a replacement bar code sticker for the master cylinder - when trimmed it is the correct size and font as the original. Nobody makes one. This one is specific for my 1981. There is a stamped number on the top...
I checked the MSRP price shown on the Build Number of my car and several others. The site uses $15,598.52 as the "MANUFACTURERS SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE OF THIS MODEL INCLUDING DEALER PREPARATION." The actual window sticker for my car shows this number as $16,258.52. Either there was a price...
