    GeekBIll Birthday

Thank you, sir. 'Ol Black Ice is is a state of disassembly due to a leaking power steering pump shaft seal. :ugh After last weekend's rocky road trail flat tire jeepin' adventures, I think me 'n teenage rock star boy are going to stick to pavement this weekend and maybe cruise up to the top...

    Remembering an old friend.

Yeah we had some good times for sure. Sometimes I still get the itch to continue on with proving that the L83 can be a formidable performer. I was well on the way when it happened. And yes I still enjoy the two-wheeler!

    Remembering an old friend.

Nope, no signs whatsoever. In fact quite the contrary. I had been working on tuning the latest engine modifications, and it was actually running (and performing!) very nicely. Yeah it has been 4 years. Sure doesn't seem like that long.

    Remembering an old friend.

This month marks the 4th anniversary of the day my resurrected, very "unique", '84 committed suicide in my garage/driveway. I'll never forget this 'ol girl.

    They grow up too fast...

Ohhhh not in the slightest! Black Ice has been down for a while needing a master cylinder (quite the fiasco that was)...but just got that fixed a few days ago and a new black soft top installed. We just took her out for the first time since last fall today. No hidden switches or buttons. I'm...

    timing

I believe it's the center port on the rear of the TB that has the restriction. It should be directly in-line with a visible very small hole just under the throttle plate in the bore of the TB. If your TBs have been overbored at all then this restriction is gone and you will not be able to...

    timing

Well it HAS been a while...but as I recall you should see some additional advance even at idle, but under certain conditions maybe not I just don't remember that well. However if you give it even a little RPM increase you should see a very noticeable increase in advance. If that is not...

    timing

There are a lot of variables that determine total timing...who knows where it will end up for a given set of conditions. Fuel pump does not control pressure, it provides volume. There is a variable restriction inside one of the TB units (drivers side I think) that controls pressure. Changing...

    timing

Been a while but hopefully my memory isn't totally gone, and this is all assuming a bone stock engine... Set your timing at 6 deg BTDC with the EST disconnected and forget about it. (but don't forget to plug the EST back in) Beyond that all you can really check is that the mark goes...

The Corvette Action Center Loses a Family Member

My work schedule has prevented being able to keep up with my CAC friends lately...however I had heard of this a while ago, but just could not come up with the words to type worthy of such an amazing individual. I only met Jane Ann once at a CruiseFest in Bowling Green...but as anyone that has...

Aggravating Vibration - Can't pin it down

A Road Force balancer has a large roller that applies force to the tire as the tire/wheel assembly is spinning on the balancer. The goal is to "simulate" the force of the road against the tire as it is rolling on the car.

'89 wheels for sale, very good condition.

Set of stock '89 wheels in VERY good condition, with center caps. With tires that I was running (and drove just fine), but the tires are not of any value as two of them are pretty much worn down. Looking to get $400 for the set. Located in Colorado. More pics here: misterbill.dyndns-home.com...

Help! I have an electricic control panel heating and air conditiioning panel in my 89 vette and it is stuck on heat

If it were a mechanical actuator issue only, the display would change with a press of the temperature button, yet it would still be blowing hot air. Since the commanded temp readout is not changing, there must be an electronic problem (possibly in addition to a mechanical one, but the...

Aggravating Vibration - Can't pin it down

So... Installed new tires, vibration at 45MPH and above that was not there before suddenly appears...and "mechanic" suspects a transmission problem. :ugh OF COURSE it is more "noticeable" in drive and OD...you're going faster! Alignment issues will not cause vibrations. The vibration is...
