What a fantastic event! I just this past weekend did a toy drive/car show for the Children's Hospital in Denver. There is just NOTHING on Earth that compares to making a sick child smile...and I do mean NOTHING!
Very awesome, Peter...very very awesome (and is giving me some local event...
Ah-h-h-h-em! :gtfo
Hahah just kiddin! I KNOW that tremendous "sigh of relief" ALL too well! Its a great feeling ain't it! :thumb Glad you got 'er figured out.
What wonderful tributes to one of the most unique characters I have ever had the pleasure of meeting in person. People like this are never truly gone for they leave impressions on us that last forever.
:w Dawg.
I don't know about '81 specifically...but a lot of the earlier GM ECMs flash the CEL rapidly like that when there is a problem reading the EPROM. Bad EPROM, bad socket connection...etc.
Sorry for the late reply...tried to on my so-called "smart" phone, but it apparently is not smart enough. :chuckle
Anyway, no special components needed. I just do the R134 conversion, but don't use the actual R134 refrigerant. Either type of oil is compatible with the hydrocarbon based...
Also consider the hydrocarbon based refrigerants (Envirosafe...etc)...I use that in everything, for several years now with VERY good results. Its not that difficult to do yourself...if you can build an engine you can do AC!
Make sure to replace both O-rings (two O-rings per injector), and make SURE they are seated properly (a little trans fliud on 'em helps a lot). Those are usually the cause of dripping fuel.
ok I still have a set of overbored (2" I'm sure), but they do not have bushings. DCS I think still does that though?
Sorry to take so long...sooooo flippin busy!
Bill
That's a distinct possibility. There's still so much crap laying around out there that I have yet to go through and do something with. I'll go check when I get a little time...it could take a few days.

"New" does not always mean "good"...unfortunately more and more often it seems.
However yeah you're right the OP needs to confirm whether he still is having a binding throttle issue or not with the currently installed TB.
ABSOLUTELY NOT if the throttle shaft bore is worn! Especially if it is worn more on one side than the other (which is quite typical). Consider the geometry of the throttle plate...when it is fully closed it sits at a slight angle relative to the bore, and has to conform to the shape of the...
Check the amount of throttle shaft free-play...too much and the intake air can cause the throttle plate to bind up when running but will feel fine when not running. Also if the throttle plate is not centered perfectly in the throttle bore the same thing can happen.
Been a while since I was into the guts of the 700R4 but I do believe:
That car in stock form should hit OD at just over 40 under VERY light throttle, my 84 would and they are the same engine and transmission. The adjustment of the Throttle Valve (TV) cable can tweak that somewhat. Some like...
"Brand new" does not mean good! Don't make the assumption that because something is new means that it can't possibly be malfunctioning.
I wouldn't suspect the timing adjustment itself based on your symptoms. The factory setting is 6 degrees BTDC...and don't forget to disconnect the EST...
