Totally normal. GM designed these engines to run hot. Mine did the same exact thing. I pulled my air conditioner condenser radiator and I found half a stinking forest in there. When I put it back together the temp dropped by 8-10 degrees. There is a tutorial or a thread here somewhere that...

Yup, my bust, I forgot. :eyerole It’s not too hard to do. Some people raise the engine some can get their hands in there. Do you have an FSM? If not I’d get one.

I bought mine from a Chevy dealer. But, all I needed was the belt. I have for sale the black piece with the buckle in it, brand spanking new, OEM. Name your price. Got a C5 and sold the C4. So I have some parts for sale.

Be very careful around the opti. If it gets wet kiss it goodbye. Also, IF you have to change an opti DEFINITELY replace all three crankshaft seals. Learned that the HARD way. :mad Good luck.

I’m with John, make SURE they torque them at 100 ft lbs AND in a star pattern. Don’t want any warping. I have seen SOOOOOOO many idiot shops use an impact wrench to put on lug nuts and they either break off the studs right there so when the poor guy has to replace a tire he breaks the lug stud...
