    I want a ZR1, need advice

Hello Hooks16golf :confused This is what I did to consider the best ZR-1 to buy. I lurked on the ZR1Net, CF-ZR-1, and CAC-ZR-1 forums for two years(probably less here)reading all the posts, almost daily. I had sold my '88 and had the cash ready to buy for over a year. After reading...

Hello All...... BRIEF HISTORY(Hx): Previous thread: '95 ~5K miles, backfired on start-up 3 times over the summer(loud/explosive type), Key is always held long enough-ON, May backfire the second you touch the key or well into cranking, May do it a several hours after shut down or after it has...

Hi Rob- I just got my new solenoid from kurt White. I haven't really compared them yet, will keep you updated here.

    Secondary Port Solenoid Testing- Vac.Leaks

D- I think your concern is correct.... I can't pull a vacuum on the actuator side of the solenoid which makes sence, but if I hold my finger over the filtered solenoid air inlet on the back of it , it will then pull a vac & hold which I think is O.K. & correct. The reservoir side of the...

    Secondary Port Solenoid Testing- Vac.Leaks

Thanks for your help..... I have never had any codes set, as yet. The plenum is off & I have repeatedly rechecked every vacuum line combination. The pump to the plenum is good. The only leak I detect is on the solenoid, the connection which goes to the reservoir. This must have to hold vac...

+++ Testing Coil & Plug Wires

    Hi All- I have some numbers, not sure what the normal limits are but think everything here is normal??? Resistance between paired coil terminals(wires removed): 5/8 = 5.7 ohms 4/7 = 5.6 " 1/6 = 5.7 " 2/3 = 5.7 " Resistance between paired plug ends(plenum not removed) 5/8 = 16.5 ohms 4/7 =...

    Secondary Port Solenoid Testing- Vac.Leaks

Hello All- All power/ignition off. Checking solenoid mounted in car. I disconect the dual vac plug connector from the solenoid. I pull a vac. from the passenger side vac. nipple of the solenoid(this would connect to the vac. reservoir), there is a steady decrease in vac here wether the driver...

    ** Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure

Hi All: I'm pulling the plenum for injector reconditioning, hope to eliminate the backfires & fix a bad vacuum leak which is under the plenum while I'm there. I started the car yesterday & let it run for 1/2 an hour. About 25-26 hours later I was going through the fuel pressure relief...

    **** Port & Polish Questions

*+*+ Port & Polish Questions Hi All- I need to pull the plenum due to leaky injector, so obviously it makes me think.... On a P/P job are the heads also worked while on the car? My car is staying home, wondering if anyone has done this work themselves? I remember having some good info from...

    LT5 Coil Testing

Thanks for your info. As you say, I'm sure the computer would set a code, therefore it should be O.K.- no codes have set & car runs great. It's a backfire problem and the manual does list coils as something to check , although I'm quite sure it is a leaky injector problem. Thanks, that helps .

    LT5 Coil Testing

Hi All- I'm not having any luck finding the actual procedure for testing the coil packs in the GM service manual. There are many references to do it using GM Spark Tester J26792/BT-7220-1, but that is all. Do you have to have this tool to do it? Can anyone describe how to check them ? TIA Bob
