    Question: Snell Racing Helmet

At my local track (Firebird Raceway near Boise) a helmet is not required for the slower cars. They have a lot of events where the majority of the cars run slower than 14 seconds. The High School Drags bring out all kinds of slowmobiles. Mom's minivan, kid's $200 car, etc. There are events...

    Question about C5's

Is there some reason that this thread turned ugly? Please be respectful of other peoples' Corvettes.

    Question: Snell Racing Helmet

NHRA tracks requires a helmet for the driver of any car going faster than 14.0 seconds in the quarter mile. Your C6 certainly qualifies. :thumb

    93 octane

OK, guys. We have no new information here. You have both made your point.

I suggest serious thought before you take any advice from this man! :chuckle

    Help!! Coolant Temp xxx F

I think that you have two unrelated issues. My Corvette starts having electronic gremlins when my battery gets below 12.3-12.4 volts. I am on my third battery on a 2002 Corvette. But I think that you also have a bad temperature sending unit.

    Help!! Coolant Temp xxx F

Someone with better knowledge than I have will come along soon. Failure of the coolant temperature sending unit is a common problem. I do not know whether that is what is wrong with your car, but it would not surprise me. I did find a DTC that matches yours: DTC P0116 Engine Coolant...

    cold air intake

The VaraRam requires cutting on the C6? It did not on my C5. :confused

News: 30 years between friends (and Corvettes)

I am with Andre on this one. I have great respect for the early Corvettes. Many of them were/are performance beasts. But I would take driver over garage art any day.

It looks to me like the picture was taken up close using a wide angle lens.

What tires should I get for my Z06?

Costco could not get me any tires at all. The Goodyear are on national back order. The Michelin PS2 fronts are not being produced and it will be several months before they are available. At Tirerack, they only had the Michelin PS2's in stock. There were no Firestone and no Goodyear. I...

What tires should I get for my Z06?

The only ones listed on Tirerack right now are the OE supercar tire, the Michelin PS2, and the Firehawk wide oval. I think all the BFG tires have been discontinued. This is in Z06 sizes, at least. Does anyone know any different?

    oil change

    1. Yes, the oil monitor is a good indicator of when to change the oil. 2. I change at about 5% 3. Others may disagree, but I use the monitor to tell me when to change the oil. Changing sooner may ease your mind, but I have had C5 corvettes for 7 years and I have not changed the oil based on...

Question: Reverse lights not working on my C5

That was my first thought as well. But it would make sense to get a proper diagnosis before throwing new parts in.

    Question: High Milage C5

How long the drive train lasts would likely depend on how the car is driven. Is it an automatic or a manual? The drive trains are very reliable. I had to replace the clutch in my Z06 at about 50,000 miles. I wonder if the 150-200 passes down the quarter mile had anything to do with that? :L

    TV Star!?......Not!

You handled it quite well! It was a very nice piece and some beautiful Corvettes. :upthumbs

I put it there because of the ID thread. It is the flying spaghetti monster and his noodley appendage. :D

    Gas mileage

Jason- I don't know about the C6, but the C5 bases the "average" fuel economy on recent data. It does not keep an average that goes back more than a few hundred miles. Maybe c4c5specialist can tell us the details on the C6. jim
