    1992 distributor problems

Don't know about that myself, but I'd suggest you post the same question in the C4 Technical Discussion forum (or would a moderator like to teleport this thread there? :) ). You're more likely to find an answer there, I would imagine. Good luck, Fred

    Ride Control

I'm sorry I don't have info/knowledge about the Tech2, but I do have a question for you: Are the F45 shocks you just replaced the original shocks? If not, how many times did you replace them, and at what mileage? I have about 62000 miles on my 2000 coupe with F45... Thanks, Fred

    Rearview Mirror slip

Well, I took a quick look at my manuals, and only found info about replacing the entire rearview mirror assembly. There might be some other info in there about adjusting it, but I could not find it last night. I will take a little more thorough look when I get a chance and let you know if I find...

    Rearview Mirror slip

I'll look in my service manual tonight for any info about adjusting the stiffness of the mirror's pivot joint. I need to look something else up for another thread also, so I'll see if I can figure both things out tonight.

    Electronic Throttle

Didn't ever find out if this was due to any problem with the Electronic Throttle or not, but one forum member was having trouble getting a good jump off the line a little while back. She couldn't even smoke the tires with Traction Control turned off. I don't remember if the issue was ever solved...

    Rearview Mirror slip

I don't have a solution for you, but wanted you to know that you are not alone! I have a bit of mirror "slip" on my 2000, and noticed it even more on my '98. Do you see it more on rough roads, or is it aggressive acceleration that does it...? ;) L8r, Fred

    rear suspension noise need council

Is this under hard acceleration or gradual acceleration? On my previous '98 coupe, when its rear shocks were worn out, trying to burn a little rubber resulted in pretty bad wheel hop, with small "chirps" when the wheels were actually contacting the pavement. I didn't really notice any pronounced...

    rear suspension noise need council

Welcome to the CAC! I doubt that your F45 shocks would be worn out @ 18,500 miles. Mine have 62,000 miles on them (I think-- I'm not the original owner, so I don't know for sure), and still do okay. However, you very well might have something wrong with them. I wonder if the right rear shock...

    want throaty sounding exhaust system

A friend of mine found a Z06 exhaust system and installed it on his '03 50th Anniv. Vette. He says he loves the sound of the Z06's titanium exhaust, not to mention the 13 lbs saved on each side. I've heard his and another coupe equipped with the Z06 exhaust, and it sounds pretty sweet to me. So...

    C5 vs. Z06 handling

Well, if the cost of upgrading to those tires/wheels doesn't bother you, I say, go for it! The Z06 wheels are pretty sharp looking, especially if you get the polished ones. You might also consider stiffer shocks. From what I've read here (do a search for this), the 2004 Z06 shocks have upgraded...

    C5 vs. Z06 handling

Re: I'm just learning this Vette lingo... Well, I started this post earlier, but got sidetracked. Most of this has already been covered, but here it is anyway... No, the Z51 suspension is the suspension option ("Z51" is the Regular Production Option, or RPO code) available on the coupe and...

[Video] Lotus Elise vs. C5 Corvette

At the risk of posting three times in a row... Yeah, definitely a coupe and not a Z06. In fact, judging by the non-chrome tailpipes, it would a 2000 or earlier coupe... That sounds cool! A few members of our club [Mid Alabama Corvette Club] got to take a few turns around Talladega in our...

[Video] Lotus Elise vs. C5 Corvette

One other thing to try. If Big Brother is blocking HTTP, you might try FTP instead. Change the above link to the following: ftp://www.mckinneytech.com/fred/elise_vs_corvette.mpg

[Video] Lotus Elise vs. C5 Corvette

It's really no problem. In fact, all I had to do was copy onto my company file server and give you this link right here: http://www.mckinneytech.com/fred/elise_vs_corvette.mpg Hopefully, this will work for you instead. Lemme know if not and I'll try my home server, too... Good luck, Fred

[Video] Lotus Elise vs. C5 Corvette

Kenny-- Let me know if you are still unable to get the video. I can try putting it on a different webserver than it's on and you might be able to get it that way... L8r, Fred

    Fuel Gauge

Welcome to the CAC! Even though your Vette is a 2001 and this service bulletin appears to apply to 1997-2000 models, it still looks like this is your problem: 1997-2000: Service Bulletin: Inaccurate/Erratic Fuel Level Gauge Readings The symptoms you describe match the description in this...

Battery insulator for new, smaller battery?

Just for clarity, you mean you installed an Optima battery, right (looks like a six-pack)?

Battery insulator for new, smaller battery?

I just bought the newer Delco 75P-7YR AGM battery for my 2000 Vette, but it is about an inch narrower (9" vs. 10") than the original 78H-6YR Delco battery that's in there now. Can I reuse the foam insulator from the 78H, even though there probably will be a little "slack" in it with the new...

    Removing Bug Residue

I do the exact same thing with the Meguiar's Quik Detailer, keeping it in my left, rear storage compartment, along with a small 100% cotton terry towel. Whenever the birds use their satellite imagery and GPS to track down my car and dive-bomb it, I spray the impact area with Quik Detailer as...
