Aftermarket. I don't recall anything other than Briggs & Stratton/GM keys for tht era, though I've seen something like that before. Only thing is, that vintage Corvette had "one key fits all" so I dunno what the other key would be for.
In memory of Paul Zazarine my pic is one of his:
Pat,
Feel free to contact me at sebringbill@comcast.net or my cell 941-350-1330 if you prefer. Please let your Dad know how much I appreciated his decision to join me in the parade (in my mere 57 - remember the 53s were the stars at that event).
Bill Herron aka SebringBill
Pat,
THANK YOU for the kind comments as well! (And the same to Jane Ann for the heads-up!)
So, your Father still has the Impala. When I dropped him off at the Sloan Museum parking lot after the 2003 SACC 50th Anniversary hoopla he told me he'd "tweaked" the engine computer chip, then...
I'll be there (as usual) for both events - I'm in charge of the NCRS show field and since I'm also the nat'l treasurer of SACC I'll be part of that show, too. Of course, the 57 will take me there!
Jack,
Thank you for sharing your experience with me and allowing me to do the same. Here's my favorite picture I took (you fill in the "what's Jack thinking" blank...)
Been a member since 1981 and none of the 4 solid axle Corvettes I've owned were NCRS correct. I've seen and heard pretty much the whole 9 yards from the whining to the gnashing of teeth to the pats on the back - and none of it directed towards my 57, of which I'm the 2nd owner. (I will admit...
Jack's Florida Meet-N-Greet
Jack's agreed to meet everyone Saturday (tomorrow) at Old Town (US 192 in Kissimmee - where the NCRS show is every January) at about 3pm. That'll give us all time to relate stories, down a few adult beverages, have dinner and do the Saturday night cruise...
I turn my phone on "vibrate and ring" and place it between my legs (go ahead and make all the lewd comment ya want...). At speed in a 57 with the top down I'll never hear just the ringing. :eyerole

That wierd tube thing on the distributor is the oil cup. In days of yore these vehicles were much more "owner interactive!" Every 1000 mi you were to flip the cap up and add a few drops of light lubricating (ie 3 in 1) oil. The original generators had two of the same cups, one front and rear. In...
