I own a '66 with a 327 and recently put Torq Thrust D's all around in 15x6. The tire size I used was a 215/65x15 as I too was concerned about the tire rubbing the inside of the front fender when turning. I'm not familiar with the brake calipers on a '67 so don't know if they're the same as on...
My first car was a 1956 Chevy, 2 dr, hdtp. White w/ silver. 265 ci with the oil bath air filter. All stock right down to the radio tubes behind the passenger side grill.
I have knock-off wheels on my 1966 coupe. I know Kelsey-Hayes was the original manufacturer. On the backsides of my wheels reads... "Western Wheel Corp" "K-H" with these numbers "306065". I'm assuming the K-H stands for Kelsey-Hayes but are these original wheels or...
Christmas came early this year in the form of a '66 coupe. I'm hoping the coupe and Z06 will mate soon. I wouldn't mind octuplets but the hard part would be letting them go at 8weeks. :boogie
Ok, I seem to understand this now. For 43 yrs I've had a different idea of what a master cylinder does. At this time I have no leaks anywhere in the brake system and my brake pedal does not have that spongy feeling and have good brake feel. Thanks to all for the enlightenment on master cylinders.
I can see by this diagram what you are trying to get through to me but still don't understand. Must be the mechanically challenged in me. I see the cap has what looks to be a rubber gasket that is pushed up to seal any air/brake fluid from escaping when the brake pedal is depressed. If that...
Ok, you've completely lost me with this one. The pedal fade is on a 1966 w/o pwr brakes. I thought the master cylinder cap had to be completely sealed (inside cap rubber gasket) to the master cylinder. From what you're saying, the brakes will still work with the master cylinder cap not...
My mistake. I should have posted the vehicle year and yes, it's a C2...1966. There are NO leaks anywhere except that minimal dripping that came from the master cylinder cap. All brake calipers have been replaced with new and there is no leakage coming from the piston rubber boots. No leaks...
Boy, you guys aren't giving this retired guy a rest. ;LOL All seems good with the brakes but I understand your concern so I will bleed the brakes today. Time to break out the FSM.
The clips on the side of the master cylinder were not secure because the tabs on the cap (where my fat finger is pointing...:boogie) were slightly pulled down allowing the cap to lift up when the brake pedal was pressed down. It all seems to work fine, now that I've put the tabs back to their...
Worked on the brake problem today. Found that there was minimal leakage from the master cylinder cap. Not enough to drip onto the floor though. No other leaks found. Had a neighbor step on the brake pedal for me and I found the master cylinder cap slightly rising up when the brake pedal was...
Vettehead Mikey...thanks for your input. I've pulled the wheels and checked the calipers and there is no leak or any sign of the tell-tale leak of brake fluid sprayed on the tires. Also, there is no leak from the master cylinder. :w
67l36driver...since there are no leaks, this sounds the...
I haven't had any problems with the brakes since I purchased the car in June, '09. Recently have had minimal brake fade which progressed to the brake pedal going all the way to the floor. I found that the rubber boot inside the master cylinder was "off" a bit and just a little brake fluid...
I wonder how many high school graduates will get a new Corvette next year? :L My first Corvette was a '63 that I purchased myself during my senior year in high school (1967). I paid $2100 for it.
