Hi everyone,
I would like to create some room and de-clutter under the hood of my driver/hobby vette and was wondering how I would go about removing some stuff without causing problems. I know that the emmisions stuff is all disconnected but I am not sure how to remove it. I would like to get...
strangest thing...
I was itching to get the car out of the garage to wash off the winter dust today, so I started her up and let her warm a bit. I put it in gear and holy cow!!! The engine revved so high that I almost backed into the wall, then all of a sudden I put it in park and at the...
I just tried to start my '81 and found the battery to be dead. But, as it died and the engine was turning over, my tach shot up to max and is stuck there. I charged the battery and started the car up but still no luck.
Any ideas?
The cluster light stays on. I don't think the problem is the mc because I have really good pressure at the fronts, I think the little switch in the prop. valve is switched over but I don't know how to get it reset. Does that sound possible?
Hi,
I replaced the calipers and master on my '81 and bled everything. I can't get the brake light to go out and don't have good pedal. The fronts had really good pressure, but I had to gravity bleed the rears. How do I get the proportioning valve (or whatever) to reset so I can rebleed the...
I have tried hammering and spraying liquid wrench as well as using an air hammer to try to get my shock mount out.... nothing!!!! Its been a few days now and I think the only way is to cut it out with a sawz-all. What I think will work is if I cut in two places. On either side of the strut...
I was changing the rear shocks on my '81 and, of course, broke off the stud on the rear drivers side lower shock mount. I see it is a press fit piece and I can get a new part no problem, but it is pretty corroded and I know it will be a pain to get out. I saw a part at Eckler's that is...
Ok, I've established that I have a leak in the frost plug hole around the block heater with the help of this forum. Now, does anyone know where I can get a new replacement or can you recommend a better fix (since I don't really need one).
I could get over the fact that it was a V6 easier than the fact that it doesn't even start to resemble a true sting-ray. At the very least, if they need to soil the name, try to give it a bit of a believable "retro" look.
Thanks
Thank you all so much. I was at a complete loss as to what this thing was. I agreed that it was most likely a frost plug but I couldn't for the life of me figure out why it would have an electrical connection in it.
As usual, the members here are awesome!!
Hi,
I have two more questions.....
1.) What shocks do you guys recommend for front and rear replacement? I was told NOT to get heavy duty shocks. I just want something for cruising.
2.) While removing the old shocks and doing some other stuff, I noticed a coolant leak coming from what...
figured it out....
I was talking to a friend and former GM mechanic at work and he mentioned the proportioning valve possibly being stuck also. He told me to try gravity bleeding and then stepping hard and quick on the pedal to "unstick" the p-valve. It worked. I now have all four calipers...
