    Thank you Detailingdude

I followed your process and it worked great. I did the whole wash, clay bar, wax removal, scratch and swirl eliminator, and wax in one day and the car never looked better. My wife wants me to clay bar the windows on the other cars now. The idea of using the surface adhesion properties of...

    Gone In 60 Seconds

You're right, it is a T40. I too saw those battery operated top removel tools in the catalog and thought they were too expensive. I happened to have an old Black and Decker battery operated screwdriver around, so I got a long T40 bit for it and it works great. The nice thing about the Black...

    Loss of Insurance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW! I'm going to stick with my current company (State Farm) and agent. I've never had a problem with a claim and my last one I had a check in hand less than 12 hours after the accident.

    Emptied the Vacuum Cleaner

Hi RJS, There have been a couple very good descriptions of how to do this posted before, but I couldn't locate one with a quick search. Maybe someone with a better memory can give a pointer. With our cars it's pretty easy. I'll give a quick synopsis. 1, Remove the air cleaner asembly from...

    Emptied the Vacuum Cleaner

WOW! I've read all the posts about how much junk these cars pick up in between the radiators but it's had to comprehend until you see it for yourself. Mine wasn't as bad as some, but there was about 2 inches of leaves in the bottom along with a few of the foam packaging peanuts and a couple...

Looking for Tranny shop in Phoenix (east side)

Sorry, my Brother-in-law didn't have any good leads for a shop in the area. I think there are a couple places around that specialize in Corvette sales. One of them may be able to provide a lead. Good luck. John

Looking for Tranny shop in Phoenix (east side)

Elkabong, I don't have an answer for your question at the moment, but I will ask my Brother-in-Law if he knows of a place, when he gets home. I am sitting at his computer in Chandler right now. Came down from Minnesota to get some sun and golf. So, where is the sun and warm weather? John

    Hatch Vent Options ??

I have the model that attaches with the roof ratchet and am happy with it for highway cruising. On a rough road there is a lot of noise from the hatch bouncing around, since it isn't pulled down on the seals. To speed up the top/hatch vent removal/replacement process, I use a battery...

    blown head gasket? (1991)

A local dealer wanted $1900 dollars to do both head gaskets on mine, so $500 plus parts is not bad.

    Battery Tender vs Charger ?

I bought a battery tender (I don't recall the brand) a few years ago at a local farm and home store for around $25. I plug it in when the car is being parked for an extended period (Minnesota winters) and leave it on until I take it out of hiibernation in the spring. It has indicator lights...

Headlights: Can I lock in up position?

Turn the headlights on and then back to parking light position and they will stay up. They don't close until the parking lights are also turned off. Of, course if you want them open without the parking lights on, then you would need to use the manual knob as described above.

    Wax now or wax later....

There are some members here who do body/paint work who may chime in. I had some paint work done on my car this summer and asked the shop about that same thing. The answer was with today's paints 16 hours was all that was needed for curing. This was at a shop that specializes in doing classic...

Fuel Pump dying, how long to live???

I picked up a new AC Delco pump on ebay for about $50. My original pump only had 45k miles on it but was getting tired. Pressure was slow coming up. With the new pump the pressure is up to max. almost instantaneously after turning on the key.

"Did the car originaly come wwith the white wheel & shift boot?? Seems a bit much but that is JMO" The car came with the white wheels, white steering wheel, and white leather seats. The shift boot was black or at least it is on the ones I've seen, including mine.

    1984 Antenna Grommet removal

Mike, I'm happy to hear you made it and everything is working OK. I'm glad I have the later style antenna and didn't have to go through everything you did. John

    Targa top

The only thing I have found to speed up the process is a torx bit for my B&D battery operated screwdriver. That helps a lot.
