    Investment Vettes

The latest Corvette Quarterly had a article on the Indy 500 pace cars, often considered collectibles. One described in detail was the 1978 Corvette pace car, which was made availbe to the public as a replica, similar to the 2007 pace car, though in greater numbers. They said that at that time...

    Flippin Roof Recall

Well.... GM customer service originally said that since the car is still under bumper-to-bumper warranty, that the dealer had no reason to refuse service. Later (after talking to the service manager at the local dealership) she said that the dealership has a right to refuse, which they did...

    Flippin Roof Recall

Update: One local Chevy dealer (the closest), declined to help--even after direct contact by GM Custimer Service! because they didn't do the original recall repair. GM says they DO have the right to refuse service, even under warranty... The lemon law in Kentucky isn't going to help AT ALL...

    HP rating

I have a '68 Charger with a 440, rated at 375HP. In the Charger at least, the 426 Hemi was rated 425HP. I have heard it was under-rated, but there is NO WAY I'd ever believe a stock hemi made 800 HP. No way. Didn't happen. Somebody's dreamin' or entered a ringer. Gersh

    Flippin Roof Recall

So the lemon law doesn't require a new car, just more attempts to repair? Where's the fun in that? Gersh

    Flippin Roof Recall

A month or two ago I finally went in for the roof recall. The dealer didn't treat me very well--promised to get it fixed in one visit, but hadn't even ordered the parts, till after the first visit. Anyway, it started creaking worse after the repair, and now I can lift one corner of the roof...

    Z06 With an Automatic Transmission . . ?

My guess is the the Corvette gurus at the factory know that the Z06 is for men (and car-serious girls) not wimps, so there is no need for an auto tranny! Gersh

    HP rating

I believe DRTH is right about the ratings. The net ratings are pretty accurate these days, as they are checked by an independent enginneering association. The difference (from one type of car to another) between gross, net, and rear-wheel HP will vary quite a bit, especially going from auto to...

    Thinking of an 07

    I guess you mean 430-436HP?

    Thinking of an 07

Buy a Corvette for now. If you are going for an investment, you will likely do better putting it in the stock market, bonds, real estate, etc. Don't anticipate any great return from buying a car with unusual option list. In the past, the horsepower rating has generally been the best predictor...

    Front-end Design

If you go back through the generations (even within some of the gens) the changes are dramatic! I feel sure there have been many people p***ed or disgusted with every change. But after you see a new car for a while you will get used to the shape, and if that shape is associated with...

This is Why you don't perform top speed runs in the City

Here's another reason to be careful about street racing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDZJCfx9_Pw&mode=related&search= This Corvette vs Lambo race ended with the Lambo driver and a Volvo driver dead. Then, guess what? The police charged the Corvette driver with two counts of Manslaughter!

This is Why you don't perform top speed runs in the City

Count me in on that "Moron" accusation--I do high speed runs on the highway too! But with 4 years behind the wheel of a 2002 Z06 and 1.5 years with my new 2006 Z06, I have zero tickets or accidents. If you're going to speed, do it responsibly--use a radar detector! (always watch out for the...

Drove new c6 (manual and auto) at VIR

I just had a total left knee replacement Jan 30, 07. They told me no driving for 6 weeks, and were probably assuming I would be driving an automatic anyway, so for a clutch they would have said 10 or 12 weeks. 10 days after surgery I got in my 2006 Z06 and took it for a spin. No...

    C6 top still makes noise

Well, I did have the recall done, and the creaking stopped for a couple weeks, but now it's baaack! I don't think I will have anything else done--if there is a problem, it will be GM's liability, since I did my part. Interesting that GM is taking such a casual attitude about a possible fatal...

Test Driving a C6 NOT Allowed at Dealer?

Now I have 1 of 282 DSOM Z06's. Congrats! (Best color) Gersh

This is Why you don't perform top speed runs in the City

I had a supercharged Crown Vic a few years back, and the State Troopers who bring prisoners to my office all drive Crown Vics--they said they drove 120 all the time, so those cars don't have the governors that civilian cars have.

Are there any other corvette dealers as large as Kerbeck?

They claim (and I believe) that they are largest, measured by Corvette sales numbers. Eighteen months ago, when most dealers were charging markups for the new Z06, I bought mine for list, and got a nice discount on my wife's coupe. My salesman was great, except that they were ordered cars, and...

    C-6 VS. C-5

My wife traded her 2001 coupe for a 2006 coupe and she absolutely loves the new car. I traded up from a 2002 Z06 to a 2006 Z06 and it is a step up but the older Z was pretty great (I think a better car than the new coupe). But preferences depend on whether you like the look or insist on...
