If you called Sermersheim's direct, could you talk them into the same price Corvetteworx charges, and cut out the middleman? What if your body shop made the phone call?
Is such a conversion possible? What would it entail? I have a 1965 Muncie with the 7/8" cluster pin sitting around that I would like to rebuild someday, so I'm curious how this would work.
Thanks again - I agree that it sounds worth the point hit. I don't want to pay close to $200 for a correct one that's not streetable and which I will have to keep plugged into a battery tender before and after its judged.
Thanks, John. Let's say you bought the tar topper and put it on top of an AC Delco battery, what would be the point difference over buying the correct repro battery, on a solid axle? Would you end up with a more dependable battery (to justify the point loss)?
I had mine acid dipped for $175 - turned out great - it gets out the rust on the inside and outside, taking it down to bare metal. I then had it painted inside and out. I used Houston Metal Stripping. You might look to see if there is a local place that could do it for you.
