Question: Updating to programable ECM 85 vette

The C4 computers/chips use a fairly old programming code. You would really need to know what you're doing to re-program those chips. It's not like the newer ECM's which are much easier and straightforward to change or download new maps. It is much easier and wiser to either buy a...

    75,000 On OD—Oil??

I believe the type of oil is not as important as the regularity of the oil changes.

(Picture Thread) Show your C4 to the world!

This is my other favorite gold C4. Love the ZR-1 wheels and the lowered look. They go very well together!

I realized that I have no pics of my Corvette in this thread. What a tragedy! :L Here is are the most current pictures of my 1991 Corvette in Torquise Metallic. The car is mostly stock except for the Corsa cat-back exhaust, the K&N Open top intake, and a very basic Pioneer sound system to...

    No other Generation

I rarely ever see C5 owners wave. Only Z06 owners wave because they understand the Corvette no matter which generation. Most C5 owners here in SoCal are conceited. However, the same conceited C5 owners have probably moved on to C6's and now they don't wave to C5 owners! :L Too many people...

    Your input please

That's a dirty engine bay. A little degreaser, some steam washing, and she'll be as good as new. I wouldn't care too much about the condition of the valve covers...it can easily be repainted. The shocks look like Sears or Midas generic brand. Easy enough to upgrade if you would like...

    Poll: other cars owned

No you don't! :L Compared to today's cars, those 1960's and 1970's musclecars were atrocious! They aren't anywhere as nice as today's cars, or even cars built in the mid-late 1980's. In addition, they were not as fast as TODAY'S musclecars! Okay, some of them were but they were very rare...

    Suspension question

I think part of the height issue is with those 18" wheels/tires combo that gave it a "Plus 3" upgrade. All cars that go to larger diameter wheels and lower profile tires look like they get jacked up like a 4x4.

They are most definitely WANTS. The goal was to get about 75 bhp out of the stock L98 without rebuilding the whole engine and putting a stroker in it. It was going to be $10k with labor to put a ZZ4 motor in it.

    Spark Plug Replacement - Success!

The driver's side plugs are easy as pie. Even I can do them with my eyes closed! I'm joking but it's probably close to the truth. It's the passenger's side that are a total PITA because the AC, hoses, and all that other crap is there getting the way of your hands, wrenches, etc. I was only...

Replace both head gaskets or just the leaky one?

Dawn, You should get the Hanes service manual. I bought mine cheap at my local Pep Boys and they do a pretty decent job of outlining how to put things back together with your L98 cylinder heads. It's not as complete as the factory service manual but it has helped me a great deal 90% of the...

    Help! Decisions decisions

I personally lost weight recently (especially around the belly). Trust me when I say, being in shape and not having a belly makes EVERYTHING easier, including getting in and out of ANY vehicle! LOL!

    Spark Plug Replacement - Success!

I learned a while back that it is best to do the work yourself. One other thing is that our C4's are not getting younger. Many of them have already been junked or driven to the ground. Even fewer ever get taken for repairs and simply driven until they die. So mechanics have become even...
