    Tire plugs--what do you say?

I picked up 2 tires, for my '85 (16"), from E-bay. When they arrived I noticed that one of them had what looks like 3 plugs in it. They are Pirelli's. The thread isn't bad, but how do you folks feel about these tire plugs? Are they safe to 100mph or only to 90 or less? Eventually I will replace...

    Winter Storage

I haven't read all of the above responses to this, so for my .02: I have stored cars under all circumstances for different periods of time for each: if you are just storing up over the winter, don't worry about how much gas is in the tank, (condensation if any, will burn off with the gas when...

    oil change question or opinion

This year I may only put on about 700+ miles on my Vette, which has the same amount of miles on the Mobil-1 that's in there. Should I change my oil for the year ? or wait until I put on more mileage which may take me almost another year ? Normally I change out at 2,000, but I may not make that...

    Wave

I got a great wave on a recent vacation drive. I was in my '85 with the Mrs. and the top was removed. We were driving in through the area known as 'The Hamptons' on L.I. when I spotted in my rear view a beautiful grey '62(?) vert, driven by a pretty blonde with her male companion. I saw that she...

What's best way to 'store'(save) tires n wheels?

I was thinking of buying a new set of tires and wheels for running, and keep my original equip. tires and wheels from my '93 for some future car show. What is the best way to keep them stored. Tires will be mounted on the wheels, full of air. Should I stack them up sideways, one over the other...

tire and wheel (please don't get tired of this)

I have a '93, which comes stock with 2 different width wheels and tire combo. I have an opportunity to replace all of them with stock '93 style wheels(sawblades?) and tires of all the same size at a decent price. Do you think this will effect any kind of handling?? The new size will be 275/40/17...

Pics of CE with convertible hardtop installed

So with the Hardtop on, you must loose storage space, because the Soft-top is still being stored as if you had the top down. Correct? You don't have an option to remove the Soft-top completely when you go to Hardtop do you? My next Vette is going to be a vert, that's why the inquiry. :Steer

40th Anniversary My new 40th Ruby Coupe

In 1999, I paid 20K for my ruby. It had just over 17K miles on her, and I think worth every penny. A car I've always lusted for. I live in the Northeast, so I don't think that was a bad price. I believe Vettes follow a reverse 'bell curve' when it comes to pricing, try to buy close to...

Gas Tank Build Sheet....I Got it.

FYI folks there is also a build sheet, I know for a fact on the '93's, in the front frame rail. This is the frame under the PS unit, front of car engine bay, that has a little round hole in it. You take a needle nose pliers and slowly try to pull it out. It works, I did it! The catch is if you...

Is your Corvette your daily ride?

I originally planned to use my '85 beauty for a daily driver, (driving to the train station). I wind up using my daughter's Neon most of the time. When I did use the Vette with a little snow(we're talking a dusting), those fat tires like to slip all over, and that's in the driveway:ugh . When I...

    Convertible questions

Do the converts have storage bins behind the seats like the coupes? Early C-4's have 2, then changed to 1. ...Another: On '94 and up models is there any storage on the door panels? (sunglasses would be satisfying enough). thanks gang:w

What job do we C4 owners have?

I'm an accountant. I did mostly consulting work, but for 2005 I was made a permanent employee for a firm on Wall St. (no I don't make big or anything close to big money, it just sounds nice) I also happen to purchase my '85 Vette while working here, so everything was in the right 'phase':beer

Does someone make an OBD II scanner?

Do reg auto supply houses or catalogs carry these? Would you have to buy it only for GM cars, or could you use it on other brands? Do the C5/C6 also have OBD II? thanks.:w

    Only the 96 has it!

94 was the first year for express down on drivers side. Check the 'Black Book', not handy for me now, but it tell you all the other goodies you folks have been wondering about. I like slow power windows myself, seems like you can never stop it where you want.

    Opti upgrade questions?

I don't believe you can change the '95 dist. with a '92-'94 models. The main reason is that the cam gear that fits into the opti is different. That's why you have to use the earlier dist. with a modified later model cap.

Someone told me I had a cool car.

I agree with you on the cost. People think that driving a C-4, is a 50 Thousand $ car :)

    Opti upgrade questions?

From what I understand, there is no way of checking the opti. It either works or it doesn't. It may give you some signs of 'going', like poor starts or backfires. If you got to the point of visually checking the innards, it would pay to just replace it. The 95 cap will fit, but you have to...

    Distributor cap replacement, 92 LT1

You have to remove the balancer to remove the opti. The socket from Snap-On cost $20 !! Female torx, I can't understand why they put weird fastners on stuff like this. The balancer practically prys off easily, trick is to tighten the bolts without turning the engine (put it in gear and a chock...
