we got it just about done
Last night we got all the trim that was remaining back on.....we had a couple of challenges.....
The trim the goes just near your head on the hardtop snaps into place on to the long header piece that runs from the rear glass to the front header. The passenger side...
quick update
we have all the outside trim in place on the hardtop. On the 56-58 top that I have, it has at the bottom of the outside trim a three fingered trim piece to cover the junction of the three pieces of SS trim.
Getting it on is a real trick because it has to slide under the drip...
1. nice photos
2. not enough variation, too many duplicates from same angle just different car
3. Corvettes have great angles and specific body parts, you got a few but not enough
4. need more color variety
5. looked at '59 and '60 and no restomods or hot rod versions (sorry, my preference)
my...
got the rear glass in..... wasn't that fun
lets just start out by saying that more than one F-BOMB was dropped trying to put the rear glass in. I know that Glassworks shows one person doing it on YouTube, but I am guessing that one EXPERIENCED, VERY EXPERIENCED installer could do it.
In my...
it would be my luck that it was a very expensive piece that I have worked on as opposed to a more generic unit........oh well if it fits go with it....
;LOLall you need is a die grinder and with that you can take it apart....oh yeah you need a phillips and flat blade screwdriver.....but they come apart. the die grinder is needed for the rivets. I put a small disc on the grinder that way I don't get any flutter as opposed to a new wheel which...
best I can tell, this top had been refurbished before. the glass didnt have any dates on it. the glass front edge stainless strip that goes over the front edge had a mark on it that said "reproduced". I hadn't noticed it but Sharon was looking at the part and made comment. It would go well with...
well, I thought it was a '60, some of the characteristics of the hardtop were correct, but key one which I missed until I went to put the roof back together was the roof hold down brackets. And that is when I found out that my hardtop was really a 56-58 (or something like that) and not a...
I got my headliner back from the upholstery guy. He did a nice job. I have it installed in the hardtop. Also this past weekend I got the seals installed for the rear glass, the front header, the side windows and the dirver/passenger windows. Next on the list to do is the install of the rear...
ok, I am in to the re-assembly. Couple of "ah crap" moments:W...I had to get new top hold down brackets. So when I put the new ones on, I put the rivets in ALL holes. Opps, DUMB moment. I ended up grinding out two of the rivets that hold the bracket for the left and right header. It goes...
we worked it off from one end. just like the front header SS was clipped on and had to be worked off carefully so that you did not dent the SS. Once it starts to come off, it will seperate. Don't force anything otherwise you will dent something.
I started mine off for the polisher and he...
that trim separates from that metal rusted piece. Glassworks will sell in the kit those t-studs to replace......I had to show my SS guy how to get it apart in order for him to get the dents out and replace the t studs
yup, the windshield and bumpers were the death of me......3 windshields to get one and more than 80 hours trying to get the bumpers and everything right.......really the only things on the car that gave me a real fit.......
yup, they were all corroded, but of course everything under the trim pieces in the front was corroded including the piece that the trim pieces hook onto. I need to get that piece sand blasted and then I will get it powder coated at work. I plan on using stainless steel fasteners but when I put...
