    1999 A/C problems

I assume you have the dual zone unit. Make sure the temperature on the driver's side is set to where you want it, say 70 degrees. Then, make sure the passenger side knob is pointing straight up. You should be getting the same temperature air out of both sides. If not, there may be a problem...

How much did you pay for your Corvette

I paid around $41,000 for my 99 Mag Red vert in Jan., 2001 with less than 18,000 miles on it. Bought it from a dealer and they weren't making deals back then. Sticker was $49,500 and had most options but HUD and multi CD player. Has a little over 53,000 miles today.

So...how many of us take our Vetts out if it is raining?

I try not to take mine out in the rain. Not that it will melt, but I'm basically lazy and don't want to wash it anymore than I already do. I've been caught in the rain on our 3-day spring and fall tours. In fact, on one trip, it snowed overnight. That's how I know my rear window defogger...

    New Engine Designation

I happened to be with some people who should know (a dealer, a race team owner and an engine builder) that told a small group of us the new engine, which will be built at the GM Performance Build Center in Wixom, is going to be called the LS-9. I don't know if this is news to everyone, or if it...

Obigatory picture in front of the museum thread

Here's one of mine on the way to a road trip to Nashville last summer. Mine's the pretty one!

5 yrs and still on stock batt

My '99, born 3/29/99, had the original battery in it until I took the car in last December before I put it away for the winter. I asked the dealer to change the positive cable since it was hard to get the threads to engage last spring when I got it out (I usually just disconnect the battery for...

    Show Us Your Engine Compartment

I don't know who all of these cars belong to, but they were taken at the Windsor (Canada) Show last summer. The "rivets" on the grey Vette were airbrushed on. Outstanding craftsmanship.

Fast-Autos.net Forum Member Photographs SS Test Mule

Rob, with regard to the "cheap interior", don't let the mule fool you. I work with a company that has been leather wrapping instrument panels for a future model Corvette. I'm not really sure what version of the Vette they are being developed for. However, since they haven't shown up in the...

    Newbie with some questions

Besides the cold, there's one other thing you can check when you get your car back out in the spring. Make sure you're running the correct tire pressure. I believe the correct tire pressure for a '98 is either 32 or 34 psi. Many people put in too much air, either because they don't know what...

Cost of an oil change at dealer?

My last oil change, before I put it away for the winter in December, was $68.75 at my local dealer. The oil was $54.75, but the labor was only $14. And for that, they lube and grease everything, check the belts, tire pressure, all fluid levels, etc. They do it in the back, where you really...

    Frozen C5

That looks like it's a convertible, too. Or, at least, it USED to be! Don't they sell covers in Jersey????

    Column Lock

OK, I have a totally different issue with my column lock that just happened earlier today. I have a '99 with a MT. While pulling out onto the main drag, I jumped on the gas since it was rush hour and I didn't want to wait 5 minutes for another opening. After banging through 1st & 2nd gear, I...

    What's your daily driver?

My DD is a 2002 Toyota Avalon. However, I'm still driving the Mag. Red 99 until the first "salt" flies hear in the Motor City. I think this is the only place in the world that uses two inches of salt for every one inch of snow! I hate winter.

Which modern Corvette magazine do you subscribe to or read?

I subscribe to Corvette Magazine and Corvette Quarterly, but I also get America's Sports Car from the museum and Motor Trend, which has had a lot of articles about Vettes lately.

    Tire Life expectancy

Charles, I got 39,000 out of mine and that included a couple of track days and an autocross or two. Wasn't quite down to the wear bars, but they were starting to get a little noisy. I ultimately replaced them with another set of Goodyear F-1's, but I looked at some Kumho runflats. Heard some...

    Cat back swap

The easiest way is to go to Corsa's website. There, you can actually listen to the different systems. Depending on your computer speakers, it sounds fairly realistic. Bottom line, the touring system tries to imitate an old small block with sidepipes. The pacecar system tries more, in my mind...

    Cat back swap

Our club was on a fall color tour to Pa. this past weekend and two of our '99's had the necks break off - one of them was mine! I made it there and back without any problems since the pipe was loose, but didn't fall off. The other person stopped at a Chevy dealer in Ohio and they tack welded...
