40th Anniversary My new 40th Ruby Coupe

The 40th Anniversary model Corvette is one of the best looking automobiles ever made. Congratulations. :v

    Hows it feel ??

These types of posts add nothing good to this community. This post is prejudice and offensive. I am surprised that a comment using bigoted stereotypes was allowed in this forum. These types of posts add nothing good to this community. I wonder if this "new member" even owns a Corvette...

Nice looking coupe! Like the gray with gray interior. Chrome wheels are a nice touch too. I see your Winn-Dixie has put in a special parking section for cool looking cars. :L Frank (bluecoupe)

    Hood light switch

That suggestion reminds me of the space pen story. During the heat of the space race in the 1960's, NASA decided it needed a ball point pen to write in the zero gravity confines of its space capsules. After considerable research and development, the Astronaut Pen was developed at a cost of...

What are you paying for a C6??

I'm with you guys. $2500 off of $8000 worth of options (when them I only wanted $2000 worth of options in the first place) is no bargin. It is still $3500 (plus tax and financing) more than I wanted to spend. The magazines brag about Corvette's mid 40s price but I have not seen one C6 with a...

Is it considered a kit car? Is it insured and registered as a normal production car or it considered a home built? Was it hard to register. My state is a royal pain about custom built motorcycles. I can only imagine how they would be for a custom built car.

Congratulations. With most of the major Corvette components now coming from North or South of the US border my loyalty to the "All American" sports car is becoming less and less of a concern. I too have found myself considering other brands. Here's the Sports Car Revolution review...

XM: Should I order my C6 with it? Yes/No

I'm still having trouble with paying $1000 over the next ten years to listen to the radio. I remember when cable TV promised no commercials. That didn't last long. A few years later we not only had commercials on cable TV but we now have one hour long infomercials and Home Shopping networks...

    Reverse gear woes

It is a bit tricky. The "hold the clutch in and shift into a few other gears first" method seems to work 90% of the time for me. But I do have to ease out the clutch first just to be sure I am actually in reverse. I miss the little reverse lock-out "trigger" thingies on the C3. I guess it was a...

Let's not forget the most important difference between CAC and the other forums. The members here are a much more attractive group. ;)

    Transparent Lift-Off Top

What a crock of GM bulldust. This is not an X-File case. Look on ebay and see how many defective C5 tops are being sold. Most have defects that "naturally" occured through age. There is an entire aftermarket industry that refurbishes "glass" Corvette tops. Considering the oldest tops are from...

    Oil Burn

The problem is not winding it out on the shifts but holding it in the lower gears too long. Basically driving around at constant 3500-4500 rpms. The automatic transmissions shifts much better than a lot of people that have manuals do.

    Oil Burn

Is the 2004 an automatic or manual? A manual will sometimes use more oil if you keep the revs up.

    Convertible, Targa, Z06, Z51

Z51 on a C5 is handling package. It has stiffer springs and shocks, thicker sway bars and a power steering cooler.

    Convertible, Targa, Z06, Z51

My C5 is a Targa w/ Z51 (6 speed). Next one will be a Convertible with a power top and the F55 Magnetic Selective Ride Control suspension. My A$$ getting too old for the harsh ride and my back is too worn out to muscle the roof panel around. I hate to admit it but I also hope the new auto trans...
