    Master Cylinder Replacement

Bleed? anytime you open a hyd line you have to "bleed" the air out of that line. So, your answer is YES, if you d/c a brake line you must bleed the system before returning it to service otherwise you will not have any brakes. Air compresses..fluid does not. Go buy some self bleeding lock...

    Help! Leaning seats.

somebody put the seat frames in wrong. The L & R seat frame or chassis is specific to that side. If you notice the seat has a tilt lever in the lower left front corner...driver side. That won;t work if its on the other side... The seats have a slight angle to the mounting so they are turned to...

    Help! The engine suddenly dies

Start with fuel pressure test....40 psi at key ON or something is wrong....a steady gauge when idling @ 38+ psi...no flickering of the needle. Inj ohms test hot and cold 16 ohms is the target. <12 is faulty. They have to be around 6 to be so slow and dead that they are not spraying but any...

    Replacing Alternator

I'd charge and load test the battery first... Guilty of washing the engine bay? The alt hates that. Spin it when its soaked and it instantly shorts and fries and never puts out more than 9 volts again..I lost 3 that way before I figured out that IF you wash...WAIT for water to dry or drain...

Question: Will aftermarket brake booster fit?

I wouldn;t worry about it.. The catalogs will use the picture of the same part for all yr make & model.

    Accelerator Pedal

yes, as stated above I'd get under the hood and look to see if anything is binding the cable. Next, clean the throttle body to make sure the butterfly is not sticking inside. Lube the cable with a shot of some kind of spray lube. Sometimes the inner sleeve on the cable can break and cause...

What oil filter do you use? short or long?

Thank you for pointing out my error .:thumb ........not being a technical guy I often "cut thru the BS" and make my point as quickly as possible with as few words as possible. Mrs Estes (typing teacher) would be ashamed of my poor typing skills... What I would have said (or typed) had my...

    Street/Strip C4 LT1, this is the Plan.

I gotta ask, who gets the new Zo6? I kinda know but I wanted to ask anyways...:chuckle If you;re ok with the area that you;re in with the speeds and times, and looking for another second or within without breaking the bank, I'd consider some port work on the intake & heads. Thats what...

All Turn Signals Blink at Once!, But only in one direction...

Pat, you need to get rid of that haynes manual asap. It has NONE of the updates or bulletins that came out over the yrs and its famous for being flat out wrong. You desperately need the REAL FSM that has one book in the set dedicated to nothing but electrical. There is a drawing and great...

    TPS voltage

John, to answer part of the question, the TPS adjustment range of .54 to 5v is not etched in stone, as to what the range MUST be on each unit at a given position. That is simply the working range as reference. The ONLY important number is the minimum. That is because that is one end of the scale...

    Help! Hard pedal, weak brakes!

Yep... you might look at the vac line from the booster to the intake, but more than likely the booster has failed. :ugh Not an impossible task to replace, just challenging in some ways. :eyerole Boosters sell for anywhere from $150 to$350...depends on where/who you buy from. FleaBay might be...

    Convert to carb on 86

"what we fail to understand, we will fear......" You;re caught in the middle. Its probably just as expensive to go either way since you're not fully aware of what kind of bubba build the PO dropped on you and you KNOW that some facts were omitted for the sake of the sale....... The EFI TB...

    Question: Is My '89 C4 a Greenwood

True Greenwood trim packages had a little different stuff...and it was ID'd by badges or logos. IIRC greenwood was a dealer option so it would be on the sticker AND there would be a code on the console lid or wherever the OPT/build sticker is hidden. It looks to me like $3000 worth of...

How to remove inner tie rod from rack?

The trick ? easy....thats a bench job. Not inframe. It requires a special tool. And a vice. Rebuilding a rack is not for everybody. It has to be done right or it will leak and have all kinds of problems. Not what is considered safe for steering gear. Inframe, about all that can be done...

What oil filter do you use? short or long?

I have used both as well...the shorter to look at additional ground clearence when I was installing a stack-on plate for an external cooler... Since 75% of the oil gets bypassed anyway, and all oil gets at least some filter time and we change it more often than most car owners, I don;t believe...

    Question: Fuse mounting panel removal

Since you mention dash I'll assume that yours is a fuse box on the rt side... in which case, thats challenging. Remove all the trim panels, side, below, bread box, and dash pad. Get to the fuse box mounting screws (if you can) and remove and gently pull the box in and up toward the...

    Help! 87 headlights

The 87 style headlite actuator has internal limit switches that respond to the motor torque to know when to shut off when they are operated. There are 3 relays that can also effect this... Rule out the relays by finding the 2 that are the same and trade them. If the problem does not move then...
