    Piston slap, maybe not!!!

Hib, hear what you are saying but my car doesn't really sound like piston knock, but more like a set of old lifters. It goes away after it warms up like piston knock would however.

    Lifter noise on 2002 Coupe

New information may be forthcoming. Check out my new thread on Piston Slap. I think Terry may be on to something, and plan to keep and eye out for his findings as well as submitting my next oil analysis to him.

    Piston slap, maybe not!!!

Terry Dyson, an oil analyst, is trying to figure out what is causing our engine noises upon cold start. Very interesting reading at the link below. One theory being investigated is oil pump cavitation on cold start, very interesting theory to say the least since my car makes noise, but I never...

    Kerbeck

Re: Naughty, naughty Kerbeck... But from reading the thread, I believe the car in question was new. It was a 2000 bought in August of 99.

    GM's Dexcool Lawsuits.........wazzup ??

Here are three more with good information: Dexcool Article Presented by Texaco/GM Radiator Cap Information Information on the Dexcool Lawsuit Have used this stuff for years, keep it full and you will be fine.

    Kerbeck

Well, let me tell you about my experience. I went to a local dealer because they had a used car like the one I bought. They wouldn't deal at all. I asked about new, and they told me MSRP. Mind you, I had the money in my pocket at the time. I told them I was going to Kerbeck. I called...

    GM's Dexcool Lawsuits.........wazzup ??

Re: dexcool Not sure I understand, they are one and the same (GM and Texaco).:confused

    GM's Dexcool Lawsuits.........wazzup ??

I agree with Dean. I have changed over all my cars, with the exception of the new BMW, to Dexcool. Keep it full, and no problems. I also went into the block and radiator of my 90 Vette when I had it while the Dexcool was drained for some winter motor work I was doing. It was unbelievably...

    info on Holley-Weiand Intake manifold

I personally think the aluminum is a bad choice because they tend to hold the heat. F.A.S.T is coming out with a new one shortly that will likely provide the most advanced intake for the LS-1/LS-6 we have seen to date. I am waiting to see some dyno results on that one;)

    Similarity to C6 interior?

My wife will like it if the seats have changed. She doesn't like the C5 seats as much as our previous C4 sports seats and misses them. Wonder if you can swap the C6 seats for the C5:beer

    New pistons (which rings)?

I have some noise when my 02 starts, doesn't sound enough for piston slap though. How loud was your car that they are changing the pistons?

    Differances between auto and stick

Not sure, but the weakpoint appears to be the output shaft of the tranny as several have broke them and there is a stronger aftermarket version available.

    Differances between auto and stick

And to add one more, I belive the Z06 rear end, while still 3.42, has shot peened gears which are stronger then the standard version.

    Recall Column Lock Question

Don't know if this will be free, but you may want to just consider a column lock bypass from Corvettes of Houston. It will rid the problem once and for all.

    zo6 exhaust on ls1

I love mine. It is extremely light in weight, has a better tone and absolutely no resonance. I can't believe the Z06 folks are selling them. One of the best kept exhaust secrets in my opinion.

    Flowmaster Mufflers

Why not consider the Z06 titanium system. That's what I did. GM built, very light and a little more throaty in the car, and louder for those outside the car. You can find them used for under $500 with very little miles on them.

    A Column Lock bypass Question

Aftermarket kit is worth the peace of mind and any other problems down the road in my opinion.

TSB #02-06-01-038 "Engine Knock of Lifter Noise" - Who has had it?

Thanks for the response. I hope that it is that simple, I would be thrilled. I will pick that up this week and see what happens. Is this the same stuff that you spray in the manifold, and would that also work?

TSB #02-06-01-038 "Engine Knock of Lifter Noise" - Who has had it?

Just saw a similar post below and read the response by C4C5specialist. I don't have an increase in noise when warm, but rather it goes away completely. I did notice now that the car has 10K miles on it, the motor appears to be "free", or rev easier. (Kind of hard to explain). I am looking...
