    Scared to Move Up

Well, if it's any consolation, I just sold my 90 and bought a 2002. Hasn't arrived yet, but hopefully this week. I was really upset the day the 90 drove away. But after a test drive in the C5 and a friend letting me drive hers, I really don't miss it that much now:upthumbs

    Car Capsule

I use the carbag myself. I run the cord in through the zipper where it ends when it is closed. If you have a Lojack in the car, you cannont disconnect the battery or let it lose power for more then seven days.

Anyone in maine seen this car ?

Have you tried any of the Corvette Clubs in the area?

    scan tool recommendations...?

I have the Auto X-Ray. I find it adequate for what I do and can use it on several of my GM cars. The price is also fairly reasonable. I will not do all the things mentioned above though. In the end, I usually don't hook it up to pull a code as it is easier to count blinks. I do use it to...

    water in the gas :( 95' Lt-1

Not to be an alarmist, but, I had the motor apart this past winter and the fuel lines were disconnected at the fuel rail. I had sealed them off so they wouldn't drip, but they did. In the process of trying to seal the two open lines, I noticed some "gook" in the feed line. Turns out the line...

    Bose Amp Replacement Advice

Understand your frustration. I had my rear go last year. The best deal I found was Corvette Central for $199 a pair for the complete speaker assembly. Note that the amps were upgraded with more heat tolerant capacitors in 94 and the Corvette Central units have these upgraded amps. Also...

    How hot is too hot?

If it runs OK, then as others have said the cast irons heads are in your favor. However, you may want to keep an eye on your intake which I believe to be aluminum. A leaking intake, into the crankcase, can lead to major problems with bearings and such. If you take the car off the road in the...

    Roller rockers question?

I would also suggest you consider new springs. With 1.6 rockers, the springs come very close to hard bottom. Every time I read about this mod on the LT-1 in a magazine, they always change the springs.

    Oil Leak. Need Assistance

Probably the rear intake seal. Just did mine this past winter.

    '84 Intake Gaskets

Your spark plug fouling problem sounds like you didn't get a good seal between the intake port and the lifter valley. I recently used Fel Pro on my 90 without any problems, even with aluminum heads which expand differently then the block. I also used a very thin dressing of Permatex Hylomar on...

    adjustable fuel pressure regulators

Depends on the year of the car. The earlier C4's can benefit because you can modify the amount of fuel delivered during open loop as the ECM will just use a pre-programmed injector pulse width. On later computers, the BLM numbers are also used to adjust injector pulse width when you go into...

    Rear End Fluid Change

Unless you are putting on an incredible amount of miles or the car is run very hard, I think it is un-necessary.

    Rear End Fluid Change

Re: Re: Hi Tim The C4 cover removal requires removal of the cat back exhaust, spare tire carrier, half shafts, tie rods, camber rods, drive shaft, transmission support beam and then full rear differential removal. There is no cover like the Jeep, the cover actually is bolted to the frame just...

    A question about synthetic oil

Royal Purple, Mobil 1 and Amsoil meet the Corvette specification 8714M. Redline has not been tested to this specification but I am confident that it will pass without a problem. I use Mobil 1 in two of my cars and Redline in the Vette. I just put Mobil 1 in the Vette because I just...

    Platinum Plugs

I ran some Bosch platinums in my Vette and my Suburban. The Suburban doesn't have a knock sensor and I was getting a lot of pinging. Bosch runs the tip very hot to keep it clean. This raises the tendency to ping. I now have copper core plugs in the Vette and it runs great. Currently running...

Hypertech Stage II Powerchips: Good or Bad?

Waste of money, don't bother. Until you have substantial modifications you can't beat the stock chip. If you want a different fan temp, get a fan switch and a 180 stat. I had the Hypertech Stage II with a 160 stat and my oil temp (I have a cooler) was 163 in cool weather. That temp is too...

    Rear End Fluid Change

I am in the no drain plug camp. I don't feel confortable drilling without ensuring no metal shavings. I have the miti-vac with fluid transfer kit. Eastwood sells this amongst others. I can change the fluid in about 20 minutes and I take my time. Not sure why you want an annual change unless...

    Differential or Torque converter Change

I went from 2.73 to 3.07 last year. I noticed a good inprovement in the car, but mostly in 3rd and 4th gear. I am going to disagree and suggest you look into a Precision Industry torque converter of about 2400 stall. The company can advise you better then I can about the actual stall speed...

    1989 Valve Covers

While I had my valve cover off at the time, I carefully removed the emblem with a razor blade. It has a thick rubber sticky pad that holds it on. I replaced it with a silicone. Not knowing this at the time, I also ordered a new one. Guess I will keep that as a spare.
