True dual exhausts, cam and recurve your distributor ... as a package.
L48 cam specs about .390"/.410" 194°/204°dur@0.050" ... utterly wimpy cam.
Cam&lifter kit like Speed-Pro KC1013R (.443"/.465" 214°/224°dur@0.050") would do nicely with your stock compression, 4spd & 3:36.
Your OE intake...
Local parts houses / machine shops that sell Sealed Power aka SpeedPro aka TRW can get the cam ... you should be able to do locally. Although ... as opposed to most other stuff ... summit does have a good price on their cams.
Essentially;
K1103 is SP KC1013R
K1104 is SP KC1138R
2102 is SP...
1062R will work real well on street in a 4spd 350 w/ 64cc heads ... NO, not quite as smooth as 1095R ...because it's a little more cam ... a little more means just that.
SP published power range:
1095R: 2200-5500 good idle
1062R: 2200-5700 fair idle
SP's idle descriptions range from stock to...
Don't put the cart ahead of the horse.
A points distributor in good condition and properly set up works VERY well.
You don't have the car yet ... so ... you may not know condition/originality of distributor.
There are new, aftermarket, stand alone, "tach drive" HEI distributors out there...
I think you'll be happier w/ less cam ... I almost said just that a while back:
----------------------------------------------------------------
1095R is also same cam as in L82. I think it wise to step down from the RPM cam ... but I think the L46/L82 cam is a bit small for your 64cc/4spd ...
8" will work as well as smaller one ... just make sure your new timing tab for 8" is actually aligned w/ damper's mark when motor at TDC. FYI ... most chevy hi-po crate motors come w/ 8".

Don't use gear drive ... bad for motor ... hard on front main cap ... you'll probably end up hating the noise ... it'll mask more subtle sounds when you TRY to troubleshoot stuff ... motorheads may roll eyes when they hear your/you're whining. I build circle track motors ... NO ONE around here...
Creamy peanut butter & seed as suggested ... they LOVE IT! Do be careful, it'll be angry & frightened ... and they bite & claw as fast as lightning! Please use the Havahart "no-kill" trap if at all possible & release ASAP.
If at all possible, Please don't poison or kill ... this time of year...
I agree ... seating rings is important ... this method is recommended. I also agree you don't want to be too hard on the motor until you've gotten most of the breakin bits outta there. Suggest O&F change immediately after 20-30min cam breakin, then again at 100miles, again at 500more ... then...
SBC vette pump is a short pump CASTING ... but since about 1970 the sbc vette pump's hub is located slightly different from where a non-vette short pump's hub is ... hence pulley spacing is slightly different between non-vette & vette short pumps for sbc.

:upthumbs I think dfw81shark 's offer to have Art stop by is a nice & generous one. I also think Art should avail himself of it ... could definately help Art clarify what stuff causes what changes. And if these two fellows haven't already met ... making a new nearby vette pal is alone worth the...
According to EB specs for sbc rpm heads ... springs should be EB P/N 5767 ... if so, those are supposed to have seat pressure about 105# ... that will be fine for a performance hydraulic flat tappet cam.
As far as cam recommendations ... I tend to err on side of caution ... aka conservative...
First, you need to know compression ratio ... what is dome volume of new pistons(- or +)? ... how far down in cylinder are the pistons when at TDC? ... what cc are the heads' chambers? Without that info, NO ONE can figure out what CR will be. Without CR, NO ONE can properly advise you about cam...
Yes it's a good choice ... but it's NOT a distributor ... it's a kit to convert your distributor to non-points. The Breakerless SE conversion is the best conversion kit I know of. But ... as others said ... a good points setup works VERY well. If you remove your 74's OE points distributor &...
Early sbc had a vent tube stuffed into intake manifold at driver side front ... tube about 1-1/4" x 6" ... adjacent to water neck ... had a vented, push-in cap ... same used to fill w/ oil. Dunno if tpi intake could be modded w/ tube?
