    rebuild - need advice

    That's not an LM1 ... that's a Goodwrench GM P/N 10067353 ... it's essentially an L48. The LM1 is identified as GMPP P/N 12499529 BTW, an LM1 is essentially an L82 with small valve 76cc heads & dished cast pistons ... cam is same as L82 ... LM1 is basically the Goodwrench x353 with an L82...

    spark plugs

Nothing fancy ... no exotic metals, no multiple electrodes. I personally do not care for champion brand. I like PLAIN: Bosch, Autolite, Motorcraft, ACDelco, ND (nippondenso) ... in no particular order. Get whatever range is specified by plug mfg for your year & model ... 74 on back w/ points gap...

    GM Waterpump Fit ???????

That's strange ... maybe CAC server has relegated me to png (persona non gratis)? Dunno? Bill, I'll check locally if it can be recalled exactly which alum pump was used on ZZ4 & if any mods were required. MEANWHILE: You may've this elsewhere ... but EXACTLY which pulley setup will you use...

    rebuild - need advice

GMPP will sell you a brand new crate with alotta torque & horsepower for around $4K ... all new with a GM warranty ... such as HT383 & ZZ4. You can make more tq & hp if you build yourself for $4K ... but then you'll likely need different rear gear and/or higher stall torque convertor ... both...

    GM Waterpump Fit ???????

Bill: Have you ground off the alum pump's cam stop boss yet? If the iron pump fits your pulley setup ... I'd suggest using it ... the iron pump will cool very well. Also, the OE single roller set hold ups quite well too ... although narrower, it has a larger pitch than the double row setup ...

    rebuild - need advice

more info please Tell us which 350 L48 or L82? ... which trans auto or 4spd? ... which rear gear ratio? ... does it or will it have true dual exhaust? ... approximate budget?

    GM Waterpump Fit ???????

Pull the cover ... put a double roller set in (your ZZ4 probably has OE single row) ... replace cover w/ conventional steel.

Tips for installing a oil pan

Nice BB op gasket install tips ... thanks. Big Block has teets at timing cover ... Small Block has NO teets. A few months back, we did a 67 or 68 396SS camaro Big Block ... used FelPro one piece op gasket ... it wasn't the race version ... worked great ...no leaks ... MUCH easier than 4-piece...

    GM Waterpump Fit ???????

Like bossvette said ... there could be a serpentine issue too. Typical serpentine pump rotates OPPOSITE from crank. Serpentine pump is Counterclockwise. Standard pump is Clockwise. The alum pump in pic LOOKS like standard rotation, but I'm definately NOT certain. As for alignment, it's MUCH...

    GM Waterpump Fit ???????

Looks like the cam stop boss is in the way ... grind it off ... you won't use it. But before you do that ... consider this. For sbc there are short pumps, long pumps & vette pumps ... primary differences being the measurement from front of hub face to block flange. Typical short approx 5.545"...

    '76 350 Rebuild

Sage advice from Gary/GTR1999 ... from a guy who builds & sells diffs ... but didn't try to sell you ... I'd pay some heed. I also agree with his take on the situation. JACK:gap

    2nd Generation Q-Jet Metering rods

I agree ... or call Jet performance ... moreover, it's my understanding that edelbrock has discontinued offering a Qjet clone (series 19xx) ... I inquired recently ... please reference this email dated 11/18/2005: Unfortunately we discontinued our line of Q Jet carbs about a year and...

    Form Seats not Delivered

I agree ... & suggest that may do more than an effectively hollow threat of interstate legal tussle over $200. If you were threatening a suit (not likely here) ... and hoped to enforce any judgement ... you'd really need to sue in the seller's jurisdiction. But, I'd definately let the show...

    Original parking brake console?

Well .. I'll take a stab at it since no one else has. I think it's plastic ... the ones I've had all seem to be plastic. None of the OE-types I've had or seen had a covering (like the shift console does).

    LT1 350 370 Hp...vs ZZ4, and others..

Stan: I think you'll find ZZ4 has a bit more low end grunt than Lt1. Solid flat tappet Lt1 can outrev a roller (ZZ4) anyday. I'd pick the aluminum ZZ4/L98 58cc heads over the iron Lt1. Look around ... you should be able to find a good usable L98 pair for around $400-$600. Of course you can use...

    LT1 350 370 Hp...vs ZZ4, and others..

Stan: Sounds as though you may've DE-stroked a 400 ... used a 350 crank w/ground rod journals to 2.0" for 5.7" long 327 rods. It's also quite possible the 350 crank's rod journals were offset ground to make a 3-9/16" 350 stroker crank ... still less than 400 stroke. A thirty over 400 block...

    LT1 350 370 Hp...vs ZZ4, and others..

Sallee Chevy has their own sbc crate motor P/N SC450BLB for just under $5700. It's all brand new ... based on HT383 short block but w/ more cam & 12464298 fastburn heads. Makes about 450 hp/460 tq on pump gas. Sallee also has GMPP’s P/N 12498772 … about the same as above motor but w/ slightly...

    LT1 350 370 Hp...vs ZZ4, and others..

Stan: But the 400 block w/ a 350 crank ain't a stroker ... it's DE-stroked ... does not have the grunt of a stroker. 350 block w/ 400 stroke is a stroker ... and has the grunt. Tom: Sorry 'bout your chow dog pal. The ZZ4 has aluminum L98 vette heads w/ "conventional" 58cc chambers ... they are...

    Storing '78 for winter

DO use stabil & premium gas ... double the label dosage & mix WELL. For over-wintering ... No real advantage to periodic cranking unless you keep it running for an hour at a time ... to get it fully up to temp. Best to disconnect terminals from battery and put a full charge on it just before...
