When I first got it fired up it was popping and running really rough, I played with the timming, and it doesn't seem to make a big difference, so I was thinking that maybe it was installed wrong. I would love to check the lift, and if it is on its timing marks, but I guess there is no easy way...

Yea Dave I think it's going to be a project, mechanically it's very promising the more I look and play with it, the driveline is great, someone has done most of it at one time or another. Motor is very strong, just not a daily driver, to much cam. The body has 3 coats of paint on it and the last...

    Frames

I have an 80, and a 79, in the catalogs (Corvette America, Eckler's, ect.) the show frames from 68 - 82 with the tranny crossmember that has 2 holes for the exhaust to travel thru. The 79 I just got has the 2 holes I'm talking about, with a automatic transmission, and my 80 has a crossmember...

    Towing a 79

I'm back, what a ride! I picked this 79 up and brought it home, just looking around, I found some interesting things. It has a dual cat system with headers, the tranny crossmember has 2 holes for the pipes to go through, and the car is a automatic, is this normal? My 80 does not have this, did...

Thanks agian for all the tips and tricks, this wiil be an adventure. I'm hoping this trailer isn't one of those heavy things, my half ton chevy will bog down on those mountains near Bedford Pa. Towing a 79

I live in Pa., and need to pick up a 79 Vette in Kentucky, can I tow from the front wheels, or do I have to use a trailer? What needs to be done if I can tow from the front tires? Will it hurt the rear? Will the wheel base fit on a Uhaul trailer? I hope someone has done this before....

    79 belt alingment/diagram

I went and looked at mine, its an 80 3 groove crank pulley, on the first groove (closest to block) goes around the crank, alt, water pump (it has 2 grooves) 2nd groove on crank (moving out toward the fan) goes around the crank, water pump (outer groove towards fan) and the AC and the last crank...

    The Brakes!

I did 500 just to be sure for a half hour, (thats also all the higher my oven goes) let them cool down in there also. I can't find any ill effects, sooo today I bead blasted them and as soon as I get some nice red powder in the mail I'll coat them. I'll try to get some pics, but someone will...

    The Brakes!

Well, I cooked it! I see no coloring of the sleeve, and everything mics out the same. I had some discoloration on the castings from not being perfectly clean and the stuff baked on, should of threw them in the blasting cabinet first, but I just wanted to see. You have now given me another...

    The Brakes!

I would place a little "FEELER" call to one of the aftermarket suppliers, they all powdercoat, and ask them if they do the process with the sleeves in. Tell them your using them for race applications, and your are worried about them under load, they might slip with a little info. I would go for...

    The Brakes!

I have never done it but, I don't see why it could not be done. They would have to be apart without the seals. I do small runs of powder coating on slotcar parts, anything metal can have this process done, as long as the temps reached in the curing process won't harm the piece being coated. I...

    Heater and AC Control

Mine does, but the vents to let air flow into the car should be closed. Not sure why it does this, I unplug the electircal connector in the summer so it doesn't move hot air. I have had many chevys do the same thing, I never thought much of it till now

    Spindle and Bearing Assy

If you TA's are on since factory, be sure to pay close attention to the shims that are in there, how many, what size ect. Most of the arms I have removed are seized to the inner metal sleeve of the trailing arm bushing, making the job of getting the bolt out very hard. Spray everything days in...

Hey Burglar, I just noticed you where from Hbg., I'm in Mechanicsburg, go to Knisleys on the Carlisle pike the guy in there had many Vettes, and should be able to fix you up with the shortys, and/or the answer and part#'s. It's a great HiPo shop

    gas smell

I have heard of many problems of gas odor, and just as many fixes, but mine was the fuel line on the passenger side along the frame right before it bends (at differential crossmember) to go over the rear of the frame, the gas line had rusted from the outside in so slighty that is was bleading...

How much have you spent on restoring your Vette, to date ??

The biggest part was the trailing arms, and everything in the rear of the car, everything new with the brakes, fuel and brake lines, mufflers, (Targa) and just misc. gaskets and parts to make it a driver that I can trust. Silver outside, claret interior
