THanks I was told that the order they have is on it's way and should be in there in about two weeks. They placed an order for 30 heads so they are one of the first ones on AFR distribution list for this run. I've got my fingers crossed that I can get my hands on a set. :)
Sallee may be top shelf but as the saying goes......"they ain't got none in stock". Tried them last week and they are dealing with the same problem everyone else is............12-14 week lead times from AFR.
If I want to drive this beast this year I need the heads by May so I can dyno and...
Thanks for the lead "hrtbeat1" I just called them and they expect a set in soon, so they ear marked them for me......at least I might get to drive this summer :D
You like living on the edge.............antifreeze + oil is a BAD combination to drive with. If you do find something to plug it, it won't last for long and I'd be willing to bet that when you least expect it, it'll let go and cost you a lot more than a head gasket to fix :cry
I am in the process of doing exactly that. I bought a 350 from a 74 Nova and am crating the original matching 350 from my 81.
It's a project I started last year with my boys and so far have about $3.5 K into the motor. Essentially gutted the block and started from scratch, bored 60 over, new...
I'm in a bind and need some help.
I am in the process of building a stroker and am trying to locate a set of AFR-195 heads part number 1036. AFR apparently had a machine go down and haven't made a set of Chevy small block heads in over 7 weeks, there is now a 10-12 week lead time for...
As is already stated, low end torque ( grunt as it's affectionately referred to).
Make sure you know WHAT you want before you start buying parts. That CAM is not ideal for what you trying to do, look at the 12-250 cam, that's the cam I went with for my 383. Decide if you want internal or...
I'm in the middle of a build using a RPM Airgap and was told by Edelbrock it would not fit under the hood without a drop air cleaner.
They are very helpfull about what will and will not fit under a vette hood, ( they don't like to restock parts) give 'em a call and ask, if they don't know, I'd...
I'm up to about $5500 and don't have the pumps and add ons yet, alt etc.
If you don't want to tinker, buy a crate. I chose to do my own, more money but more HP, about 490 calculated, engine Dyno this spring before the block goes in. The prices above are close to actuals I've paid already. If...
I chose a rebuild to a 383 stroker. I pulled the original and crated it. I looked into crate motors and none of them had exactly what I wanted internally, close but not exact. By rebuilding myself I got to pick exactly what I want and how I wanted it done, I also learned a LOT about motors in...
Summit is a great place to start your parts quest.
Part of the reason I started my build was my wife bought a 90 Mustang 5.0 with an oversized cam that blew my socks off................not for long sweetheart :D
and now I never hear the end of it. My son and her are both Ford fanatics.
I...
I'm gonna throw in my 2 cents for what it's worth at this point.
I am building a 383 stroker and decided to keep the original matching block in tact for the next owner ( should there be one) I started with a 74 Nova 350 block. I toyed with the crate approach and priced it all out including...
By "inflate" do you mean "expands" or gets bigger than normal? :confused
OR type the word in French that you are describing and we'll see if we can get the literal translation, otherwise we're not sure what you mean.
What exactly are you trying to test on the board?
If you are only checking continuity (ie copper goes from point a to point b and there are no breaks)..........you can certainly pierce the plastic overlay of the board without doing any damage. I would suggest that you use a pin or needle and...
As stupid as this may sound, I had a very similar problem last year. My oldest son noticed a "glow" under the rear end of my car when it was parked in the driveway at night..............it turned out to be a small light near the spare tire under the rear of the car. The light is practically...
Actually that the first thing I checked thinking that if the rubber bushing was worn/hardened that it may cause some slop in the steering wheel to pitman arm setup. Alas, the rubber was in good condition and as I move the steering wheel the pitman arm moves with it so I know of eliminated that...
Jack, thanks.
I checked the gasket against the pump and it appears to be cut exactly for the oil pump, hence my confusion and question. The only reason I can see using a gasket in the first place is to stop air from being sucked into the pump assy and then pushed up the pump toward the engine...
