    Ammeter Readings

Fusable links are designed to protect the wiring harness from "frying". If the link goes, its because you were drawing too many amps through the link. Now back to my original statement. You said you have no shorts but yet you have an incompleted circuit ( fusable link blown)......you may not...

    Ammeter Readings

There is no way that the ammeter should be supplying 40+ amps to the battery unless the regulator is gone. Think of amps as the "power" that pushes the voltage to the battery. You're pumping that many amps because the regulator thinks the battery is dead, essentially one of the diodes in the...

    Interior Moisture - Windows Fog

With that said, I just replaced my heater core this spring. The AC housing inside the engine compartment had a gasket on it. When I replaced the core I forgot to replace that gasket. First time it rained I had water inside the floor board on the passenger side...........you can ONLY imagine how...

    383 stroker questions...help requested

"internet Urban legend" my butt, I know two guys who have done this with 383's due to restrictions in the lifter cavity valley. I've bored those out all the way to the block to ensure that I have good return and rounded out the oil pump return hole to create a ventrui effect in the pump on the...

    Interior Moisture - Windows Fog

Check the carpet on the passanger side under the dash, against the fire wall, if it's moist can you say "Heater Core". This was the first indicator that mine was going and I didn't catch it until it let go completely............now I can say "New Carpet" Paul.

    383 stroker questions...help requested

Tom you bring up an interesting point and observation. Having to "modify" the pan is what I'm trying to avoid, as far as the oil return problem I have been told that the reason for the poor return is the oil return holes in the cam valley and the fact that the pickup under the journal is not...

    Oil Leak Help

My '81 started leaking oil last year from the rear main. I told my wife I had to pull the motor to fix it ;) , since I was going to pull the motor, I might as well rebuild it :D since I was going to rebuild it I'd like to drive it as well so I might as well buy a new block :) and start from...

    Window Spring

I just did this to my drivers door this spring ( excuse the pun) the door has to come apart, the motor has to come out and you need to wind the spring to align the flang, motor and x arm, then swing the x arm back into place which "winds" the spring and creates tension. Put the window all the...

    383 stroker questions...help requested

Ladies and gents been off the board for a while due to work but bakc again. As some of you are aware I'm building a 383 stroker for my '81 and made quite a few strides......much research, engine desingers involved etc. One question they can't help me with is this: I am planning a high...

    Dumb Question

"383" refers to the displacment of the motor, essentially bored 30 over moving it from 350 CID to 383 CID.( Cubic Inch Displacement) The Stroker part refers to the length of the rods going from stock 5.7inch to 6 inch which gives a longer throw and in theory more HP. There is some debate on...

    Engine rebuild

Funny you sould mention running water and electricity............I have a friend in Prenzlau just outside Brisbane, I visited him a few years ago and he DIDN'T have running water, his water was from the rain collection barrel outside his house, frogs the size of volkswagons in his driveway...

    Engine rebuild

Don't know if it's possible in OZ but I'm building a 383 stroker. I purchased an old 350 block and am working with that, I wanted to keep the original matching numbers motor in tact. So when the new motor is ready to drop in, I'll simply ( ha ha ) pull the old motor, crate it and drop in the...

    Audio: Speaker/ Sub enclosure help

I built a custom sub box, 45 degree lean angle for the face plate, 13" Kenwood sub installed, carpeted, fits very nicely between the Sony 6x9's in the rear. Only problem is placing the T-Tops back there, I can get them in but it's not ideal and they sit on top of the box. This is not a huge deal...

    Which engine?

Best thing to do with this is ask him exactly what parts he's going to replace, research the cost of the parts ( $1600 sounds high to me for what you listed) + $1000 in labor ( sounds reasonable but again depends on parts) and then make your decision. Talk to a good macing shop in your area and...

    feeling stupid

I suggest if you're going to do this that you not use oil, stop by a motorcycle, ATV store and buy some spray graphite for cables like throttle/clutch cables and use that. Oil will eventually dry/gum up and you'll have to do it again, graphite lasts forever, same time hassle but worth it in the...
