How to polish aluminium engine parts???

If you can purchase a can of "never dull"..........great for chrome also works well on aluminum stuff. It's a cotton impregnated material that comes in a can, you just rip off what you need use it and throw it away. Works well on my alloy non chromed wheels. Takes some effort but worth it.

    NEED HELP, Heater Core

OK I'm confused, nothing new, but this one's got me good. I am in the process of changing the heater core on my 81. I've got the dash out, the center console, passenger seat, carpet, center duct work, defrost duct work. I am assuming the core is behind the main duct work directly behind and...

    Steering Question

You don't need to bleed the steering like brakes, the "bleed" is slightly different. Fill the reservoir with fluid and leave the top off. Start the car, crank the steering wheel to one side stop and then the other, refill the res and continue until it doesn't require anymore fluid to stay at the...

I'm trying to get through one more year before I paint. I have a beige 81 and am starting to get some serious spiderwebbing above the front wheels on the top surface of the fenders. There are bits and pieces all over this post but has anyone been succesful in finding a reasonable temp fix for...

    need help removing power antenna

I'm not entirely sure here but am in the process of changing from a standard to a power this year. That "rubber" thing, as you put it, is a bushing that reduces stress on the fiberglass from the antenna vibration and torquing with the wind. Mine was "frozen" into the body ( and rock solid) and...

    350/383 stroker conversion

Thanks Jack. I plan to do most everything with the "Old" stuff as you said I don't want to take the chance of screwing up the new stuff. I actually have someone working on this with me that works for Delphi Auto and is very knowledgeable and familiar with the 383 build. He has been great so far...

    350/383 stroker conversion

Quick update: I picked up the block (74 Nova) on Sunday. Put it on the stand on Monday afternoon, my oldest son's friend came over to help and asked if I was going the use the carb, I said "no if you take it off you can have it"...........four hours later the block was completely disassembled...

    Side pipe Question?

Does any one know where to get these pipes and/or where to get these valve covers. This link is from the shark pages on the L81 registry page. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. http://www.c3sharktank.com/scott/my81now.html I like the looks of the pipes and really like the valve...

    Changing Diff Gearing....need an education!

OK, as many are no doubt aware by now, I'm stroking out my 81. As the picture becomes more clear ( maybe muddier??) I am concerned about the rear end. I have read many articles and stuff on this forum and others about the rear end ratios but am looking for a little help to clear my head ( not...

    Edelbrock manifold/Stock Hood??

81 and mfendly, thanks gents for the info. 81 are you concerned about any air flow restriction with the setup you mentioned. If I put a 750 CFM carb on there.........I SURE AS heck don't want to restrict the air flow. I looked into the stinger hoods and don't like the looks at all, so the info...

    Edelbrock manifold/Stock Hood??

Gents, in the ongoing saga of the 81 rebuild 350/383 story, I was wondering if someone could supply me with some info. As I pick parts for the rebuild, I chose an Edelbrock RPM air gap manifold, part number 7516. The edelbrock page states "will not fit under a stock corvette hood". Now my...

    Smoke

I ride snowmobiles and own 6 of them and this problem is common in older liquid cooled sleds. White smoke is a blown head gasket and allowing seepage of coolant into the combustion chamber. If it goes away after running there is not a LOT of coolant getting into the chamber hence the...
