    Help! Seat Belt Anchor bolts.........

:werd: That would be my bet too. GM is pretty famous for interchange between cars. Some parts are specific to a model, but way more are "fitzall".

    Question: outside storing

It would be a bit small, but Harley Davidson has a "bubble" for storage- has a fan and filter in one end and a flapper on the other. Run the scoot in, zip it up and plug it in. The air flow keeps the mosture out and the dust can't get there thru the filter. I'll be someone makes a bigger one...

    AC Evaporator Replacement

    Question: Exhaust Manifold Replacement

I like using studs. Always seemed to me like bolts tended to loosen themselves up and cause a leak. My $.02

    AC Evaporator Replacement

You Sir, are about to learn some brand new bad words. But yes, it is possible, and really not that big of a deal. The box under the hood is split just for that reason. Find the bolts that hold the inboard half of the box to the firewall and the the outboard half, remove them and unplug...

    Question: volt gauge

Link to 75 wiring diagram: Index of /johdotukset Check the connector at the alternator. Not at all uncommon for the small brown wire to break at the terminal. It looks OK, but the wire is broken inside the insulation.

    81 fuel gage

With the testlight in the circuit in place of the sender, the testlight shuld "glow" not real bright, but enough to see it, and the gauge should go about 1/2 scale. Disconnecting the sender the gauge should go full scale full. If you ground the wire to the sender, the gauge should go full scale...

    Paint

My suggestion would be to find an auto paint supplier. A good one can color match just about anything with their color gun. tell them what it's for and they should be able to whiz up as much as you need. They'll need the car to shoot it with the color match, but after that, it's all downhill :beer

    Question: Exhaust Manifold Replacement

:werd: Put new studs in the new manifolds, get the tall style brass nuts, a new donuts and sleeves, and a new gasket for the heat riser. Don't worry about snapping the studs on the old manifolds, unless you have a torch, they'll probably snap anyway. (sometimes they snap even getting them...

Question: Edelbrock Heads & Spark Plug Wire Routing

There are a couple of plug wire holders that bolt on the block on the bellhousing flange. Are these the ones that had to come off? You could use those and drop the wires down the back of the engine and run forward under the headers. Front 2 on each side would still have to be secured to the...

    '71 AC refrigerant

On the chance this might save you some $$ for diagnostics, here is a link to what R-134 fittings look like. 134a CONVERSION FITTINGS If your fittings look like these, then you can get a recharge kit at your local auto parts. If they don't, then the choices start. Many schools of thought on...

    '71 AC refrigerant

The conversion kits have fittings that screw on to the originals so the couplings on the A/C hoses will fit. That might be a place to start. If the caps screw on and have no ring like a quick coupling then it's probably still R-12. No guarantees as I said above. The fittings for 134 still screw...

    81 fuel gage

IIRC, GM's gauges are 90 ohm sending units. Maybe the wrong sender? Or really badly bent float arm? Just for giggles, pull the sender wire off the sender at the tank, hook a 12v testlight between the wire and a good ground and turn the key on. See what the gauge does. It should go to about 1/2...

    '71 AC refrigerant

:cool!:what he said. Unless someone did some bubba engineering, the fittings for R-134 are much larger than the old R-12 fittings. It is possible to install the large fittings, charge the sytem, then remove them so it looks like it's still got R-12 in it. Kind of one of those things you really...

High Speed Heater Fan Switch Not Working-Solution!!!

Good info. You're lucky all it did was kill the fuse. Usual trick is to fry the fuse holder and the wires running to it. Lots of guys just eliminate that fuse and solder the wires together- the fusible link protects the car anyway, so the fuse is a little redundant. You do have to be careful...

    Question: 1980 a/c

The orifice tube has a hole in it or there's a restriction somewhere in the system that should not be. I'd bet the dryer/accumulator is coming apart.. Feel the temperature from the top of it to the bottom- there will be a temp difference between ends. If the dryer is the same, start looking at...

    Question: intake manifold gasket

Once you get the intake off and everything cleaned up, set the intake on without gaskets and see what it looks like. Maybe use a .005 feeler gauge on both sides and see if it's setting flat against the heads. If the block was decked or the heads surfaced or milled at some time during their life...

    Oil sending unit wire color

Old school S-W gauges: I don't even know if this type gauge is still available. You do have to remove all of the tin from the back of the cluster to install them. And then rewire all the lights. The pressure and water temp gauges are mechanical.

    Question: Mechnical Flat Tappet Rebuild

This is an interesting problem. Since it started AFTER you had the heads re-done, I'd suggest that the shop didn't replace any guides or valves. Unfortunatly, the only way I can think of to find out is to pull the heads and then remove the springs while they"re on the bench and see how much...

    Horn contact assembly

The defining source for all things related to steering: Jim Shea’s Steering Papers If it's not in these papers, it's either not a steering thing or does not exist. FWIW: The 3 parts in the contact kit , cut the plunger to the correct length. I installed the spring, then the plunger with the...
