After Market Exhaust Who has the Power?

Excellent synopsis, Steve. I couldn't agree more with your conclusions. BTW, I have PowerEffects on the GS coupe and Corsas on the wife's GS convertible. ;)

    LT4 Lt4 Automatic

Factory or not, who cares? GreatDane -- congrats on your purchase (or rather, that of your girlfiend). I've followed the history of this car since near the beginning and its great to see it in the hands of an enthusiast again. It is not a "factory production" car. That much is certain...

    GS mystery Vette revealed

Yawn... I don't know about everyone else, but this is getting a bit old. Raw, we've given you the benefit of our collected opinion. Good or bad, right or wrong, that's it. There ain't no more. Based on the info you have provided, there IS something fishy about this car. The consensus appears...

Is the M/Yellow Z06 the King Of The Road?

I know quite a few owners of Electron Blue Z06's that might take exception to that. :) No question that MY is a cool color and quite possibly the best they've ever come out with... next to EB, of course. :D :D :D I'm kinda picky about my Corvettes. I only like those from 53-03 and somewhere...

Dilemma: '01 MY or '02 EB

Color is a personal choice. Only you can decide that. But all things being equal (including $$$), go for the 2002 Z06. I wouldn't spend a fortune just for an 02, but it is worth a good deal more other than just being a year newer. I've owned both a 2001 and 2002 and yes, there is a difference. :)

    GS mystery Vette revealed

Amazing... Amazing that this thread has gone on this long. A lot of rumors, misconceptions, and half-truths have been posted here along with only a handful of facts. Lets see if we can sort through them.... Raw -- I congratulate you on your Corvette purchase. Whatever the car is, I'm sure...

LT4 Performance Cam for the '96 LT4 engine

Actually 90193 miles according to the eBay ad. Ignoring that ugly hood for the moment, you do need to keep in mind that it IS a Grand S port, after all. For the right price, even one with that many miles could be a good deal if it was in good shape otherwise. Clean ones will always be in...

LT4 Performance Cam for the '96 LT4 engine

No worries, Brooks. I get at least that many legit emails every day plus as many Spam messages! I didn't recall the price on that GS but using eBay's search utility I found it, Item # 598110210 topped out at $12,900 with 8 bids but reserve not yet met. The car was from the Ft. Myers area. Hope...

LT4 Performance Cam for the '96 LT4 engine

Hey Brooks! You might want to read back through this thread. The discussion wasn't really about exhaust systems, but rather camshafts! Now pay attention, or we'll have to send you to your room. :D

LT4 Performance Cam for the '96 LT4 engine

Mez -- I think 20 RWHP is reasonable but with stock exhaust your max possible gains are limited. Personally, I'd do the exhaust first and cam later. Unless you are doing all the work yourself, a cat back system will be cheaper than a cam R&R. Besides, a nice exhaust note is hard to beat. For...

LT4 Performance Cam for the '96 LT4 engine

It's a really nice street cam, Mez. You should be very happy with its smooth idle, driveabililty, and overall performance gain.

LT4 Performance Cam for the '96 LT4 engine

Mez, my only question is why would you want it smooth and quiet??? :) Nyah, seriously, 22HP for $600 total outlay was a great investment. And when you DO opt for a cam swap, they'll combine to add even more. My previous cam was a Comp Cams 210/224 unit that was a *great* street cam. Perfectly...

LT4 Performance Cam for the '96 LT4 engine

415HP? Heck, Brooks, I make more than that now. Keep in mind those are not RWHP numbers. But for $9100 you get the Lingenfelter name on the throttle body plate, not to mention a 2 year warranty. No question, LPE makes fast, bullet-proof motors... for a price. A friend of mine had them "do" his...

LT4 Performance Cam for the '96 LT4 engine

If you are referring to Rear Wheel Horsepower (RWHP), then I'm afraid I pretty much have to agree with Hib on this one. Gee... ya got any idea how much I hate doing that?!!! :) My original goal with my GS LT4 was 400 RWHP yet still remain perfectly streetable. I've since decided that is a...

    LT4 LT1 and LT4 Comparison

GM supplied me with a crate LT4 replacement under warranty so I'm using a stock (albeit new) crankshaft which really should be good for up to 500HP. The forged units just give you that much more margin of safety. If I was stroking the engine or putting juice or a blower on it, I'd want a...

    New GSR Mailing List

Just wanted to let all Grand Sport and LT4 enthusiasts know that the Grand Sport Registry has a *new* email discussion list up and running which is open to all. This new list has *loads* more functionality and user options than the old ListBot service (which is shutting down), doesn't jam a lot...

LT4 Whats best for an LT4?

Can't go wrong with standard AC Delco plugs. I would think the GM plug wires are as good as any other for most applications, but costly, too. Also, be advised that GM replacement wires don't have the nifty cylinder #'s on them. I went with some aftermarked red wires but purely as a matter of...

    LT4 LT1 and LT4 Comparison

Don't think so, Louis. The LT4 crank is a nodular iron unit with additional machining, but not forged. The one I chucked in the trash bin after spinning a bearing wasn't, anyway. ;)

    LT-4 Airfoil

Concur with the others... don't waste your money on a throttle body air foil... although the aluminum ones do make for a rather interesting paperweight. :) If you make other engine mods (heads, cam, exhaust, etc) then a 52mm throttle body makes sense and those come with an air foil already...

    1996 Grand Sport Specifications Page

Awesome! Awesome job, Rob. This is the *best* looking specs table I've ever seen. Organized very well and chock full of useful data. Congrats! I'm adding a direct link from my hashmarks.com site to this page.
