best clutch
Hey Hib, Wasnt bashing them totally. First of all, I've put in a ton of clutches in my 40+ years of working on cars. I had a customer that was hell bent on having one of said clutches, I said alright, at this time the customer is always right. Install said clutch and 3 weeks later...
Clutch to use
Centerforce is an excellent clutch for you, stay away from findanza, there is no support from them if things go bad. Talking from past experiences
Well that just really sucks big time. You just can't get a break on this thing. What some incompotent jerks. If those heads ain't to bad, have them repaired and try to recoup a little of your money back. Sucks that now you'll wait another year to have it right. Take care of yourself over in...
Roller cam brake in
Hey baxsom! See that you are going in another direction. Did you end up ordering heads and parts for your old setup, or just say the hell with it. Very sorry to hear about your dilema with the hired help you had working around your house. I hope you ended up getting some...
diff noise and loose around corners
Had this problem with my 68. go under and check for excessive end play in diff yokes. Have seen these literally wear out snap ring grooves. Put up in air and use a pry bar and check travel. Mine where totally worn out and had to replace.
Anyone running this setup? Want to go with the tremec, just not sure which 5th gear I should go with. Motor makes 550 hp. Put one in a friends small block with the 0.68 5th gear and it seems to doggy @ 55mph. Any and all opinions and experiences appreciated. I have checked out tremec's website...
EXHAUST CROSSOVER
Have same manifold as yours. (check out new member thread NEWBIE FROM WISCONSIN Had my manifold welded up in the crossover and still used blockoff plates to keep heat from getting to gasket surface.
BRODIX RACERITE HEADS
BAXOM, Do you have these heads already? I have temp port on side of head above exhaust ports just like stock. On thermostat issue, dont eliminate bypass hose with thermostat that has hole drilled in it, (not enough cooling volume especially at idle) pm me and let me know...
Baxsom, I have Brodix Raceright heads on my 68. These heads are a perfect install in that the exhaust ports are in the stock location. (no header issues if using headers. Come in oval and square ports. They also come set up with springs for either hydraulic or mechanical camshafts. Excellent...
Stefan, Thank you for posting picture of my engine compartment. One of these days I'll have my too busy to teach dad kid show me how to post more pics. Thanks again. speedy427
rebelrob, went through my 68 front and rear suspension using parts from Dr. Rebuild. as far as shocks, i went with KYB's out of jegs. it's a gas shock that makes car ride just right and wont bounce your kidneys.
Just had my daughter post some pics of motor in my car. they can be looked @ thru my profile. dont know how to get them to come up with my posts. (computer illiterate)
