2014 C7 Corvette from Car and Driver

I love this post! I particularly like where you said "the C4 and C6 seem to be the only Corvettes that have been designed by adults for adults..." It could not be possible for me to agree more! :Steer I am just hoping to gawd that all these "renderings" we're seeing are not accurate. Because if...

    Carbon fiber dash kit?

Agreed... at least not to buy a minivan! :ugh If a Vette owner sells their Vette to buy another Vette, then I think the board will grant an exception. :v :Steer

LT4 thinking of buying '96 lt-4. couple of questions from new member.

I think most here are happy to help someone get into Corvette ownership! :v Now, as long as Ray isn't the seller's cousin, you're well on your way! ;) One other thing I would mention (can't remember if this was said or not) is that you can't fall in love with any Vette to the point of losing...

    C7 Grandsport or Z06 Style

You guys make good points. Those Europeans and even super rich Americans don't care about performance at all. It is all perception. Perception that they've got the most expensive performance car. It's just one more example of function following form in a world of twisted priorities, when...

LT4 thinking of buying '96 lt-4. couple of questions from new member.

I think you're getting some very good advice here. Hib and catbert and these other guys know their stuff! What catbert said, could be the real issue for the seller. It's entirely possible that the guy does want to just get out of Vette ownership. Now there's a concept that hard for a lot...

    C7 Grandsport or Z06 Style

I disagree. I don't think that's the only reason. The ZR1 competes with all the top production sports cars in the world, not just the Viper. Check it's times at Nurburgring, against other production sports cars, for an example of what it's up against! Viper is on the list (and it's ahead of...

ABSOLUTELY have the Vette mechanic inspect it!!! It will be money well spent. :thumb

Is this the 2014 C7 Corvette?

I agree, it's a lot of fun to speculate! I just have to wonder about the folks getting all riled up about this feature or that feature, especiall those Camaro tail lights, when we don't know for sure it will have them. It might, but we just don't know. (Now it's my turn...) IT BETTER NOT...

LT4 thinking of buying '96 lt-4. couple of questions from new member.

I would consider an LT1 equipped Corvette to be fast and powerful. Plenty of low-end torque. I wouldn't quite call it peppy! :Steer

Is this the 2014 C7 Corvette?

Maybe I'm missing something about all of this, but why do people think the mules look anything remotely close to what the actual car will look like? Sure, you can get a general idea of the size, but they can put almost any body on it they want, and then cover it up! Supposedly we know what the...

LT4 thinking of buying '96 lt-4. couple of questions from new member.

This happens from time to time. There's currently an ad on craigslist for the Monterey CA area, for a '96 LT4, white with tan interior, with 47K miles, asking $23.5K, and saying it's Grand Sport. I suppose it's an easy enough mistake to make if you don't know too much about that particular...

LT4 thinking of buying '96 lt-4. couple of questions from new member.

One other thing to consider... In re-reading your post, I see that the LT1 is being sold by a dealer. I don't recommend buying any C4 from a dealer, because they will naturally charge more. I feel you can get more car for the money by buying from a private party. What does the dealer bring to...

LT4 thinking of buying '96 lt-4. couple of questions from new member.

Welcome to the CAC!!! :happyanim: I've driven both LT1 (also an automatic) and LT4 equipped Corvettes, and I think the real issue with this is that it's harder to objectively compare the automatic vs. the manual than it is an LT1 vs. an LT4. I'm biased, because imo, the manual is always better...

I saw two Corvettes yesterday (Friday), not counting mine. What a bonanza!!! :w Didn't get a wave back, though... :w

So you're saying you can spare one!!! :happyanim: What is your price?!?!? :upthumbs I always try to Save the Wave! :w But usually mine is the only one on the road, too. We'll see how it goes tomorrow. I sometimes see more on Fridays and usually the weekend, too.:Steer

    LT4 Also a New CE LT4 Owner

I've been searching for the ZR-1 style LT4 badge that would go on the right rear bumper since I bought my LT4, but to no avail! I have not made it to any junkyards though. We had a thread going for finding (or making) these badges, but it seems that it fizzled out. Here's a link...

    C7 Grandsport or Z06 Style

I think the base model should be just that. Focus on maximum HP, performance, and handling, while keeping cost down with less creature comforts (other than some minimum level of computer that ALL modern cars will have), less GS-like styling, no wide body, etc. No need for more HP than the...

    C7 Grandsport or Z06 Style

I'm not saying you're not right, if you're saying that's what Chevy will do. (sorry for the double negative) To me though, it wouldn't make sense. But I think that sometimes I look at things from what I consider to be a logical perspective, which probably doesn't work in marketing. I guess...

    LT4 Also a New CE LT4 Owner

Welcome to the CAC. As you're already finding out, there's a great deal of knowledge here and everyone is pretty darn nice! Also, nice choice in buying your Vette! :Steer

    C7 Grandsport or Z06 Style

I agree (not that I want to go on record as *disagreeing* with Hib!) imo, if the Grand Sport becomes the base model, then why call it a Grand Sport? You can call the base model a ZR1, but that doesn't make it anything more than a base model. In order for any "premiumed-up" version (for lack...
