    Crate Engines For a 76?

I'm looking to take the motor out of my 76 next spring and just swap it out with a crate motor. Has anybody else put a crate motor in a 76 with the stock hood? I want one that will fit the stock hood clearance. Let me know! Thanks.

    Fan Shroud Repair

I know it's hard to see, sorry for the bad pic. There is a good foot missing. The topper may work but I don't really know if that would seal the airflow that well. The engine is running a little hot and I think this may be a big part of the problem. -Jake

    Fan Shroud Repair

When my 350 was rebuilt in my '76 the fan shroud was damaged and it is now missing a portion at the top of the shroud. I can't seem to find the piece that has broken off so I can't just simply put it back on. Any ideas for a way to repair the shroud? Doesn't exactly have to be pretty at this...

    '76 Rear Main Seal

Got some oil leaking bad out of the rear of my engine and I'm suspecting the rear main seal. It's the standard '76 350 engine so what does this mean in terms of the rear main? Is it a 1 or 2 piece and do I have to remove the tranny to replace it or can it be done with the oil pan removed? -Jake

'76 Hi Voltage Warning From Radar Detector

It works fine in other vehicles. Used it in plenty and have never seen this Hi Volt warning until I put it in the Vette.

'76 Hi Voltage Warning From Radar Detector

Hey guys, I just started using my RX65 radar detector in my '76. It seems that every time I rev the engine up past a certain point, it sends a hi voltage warning to the detector. I phoned the people at Beltronics and was told that it sounds like there is a problem with the cigarette outlet...

    Compression Ratio & Pump Gas?

Hey guys, Just ordered a pair of World Sportsman II 64cc heads for my '76. The guy who I am dealing with told me with my setup I should be running around 10:1 compression and that I will be fine running premium fuel. I just wanted to check to make sure that premium fuel will handle that...

    Help! Roller Rocker Valve Lash

The cam is a Comp Camps High Energy with .454 lift which from what I have been told isn't an overly high lift. As for the rockers, I believe they are comp camp rollers but I don't know if they are 1.5 or 1.6, how do I tell? The heads are the 70s style cast iron that you spoke of. I believe it is...

    Help! Roller Rocker Valve Lash

Hey guys, I am having some troubles getting my roller rockers adjusted properly on my '76 350. We have done it going by the book and "removing the play and tightening it down another 3/4 turn." However this is clearly not working as my rockers are getting damaged by rubbing against the cylinder...

I Knew Something Like This Would Happen!

Well, Friday was the first day that my '76 was up and running after a fresh engine rebuild. I knew it was too good to be true as I had tried to not get my hopes up throughout the entire rebuild and expected to take the block back out for whatever reason. After an afternoon of light driving my...

    Going Easy After Engine Rebuild?

Hey guys (and girls), I have heard two different things when it comes to how you should treat your engine after a fresh rebuild. Some people say to baby it for the first five hundred miles or so..take it easy. Others say to drive it the way you will be driving it. Who is right?? -Jake

    L-48 Rebuild

Okay, I made a post on here a few months back about possibly rebuilding the 350 in my '76 Vette. At the time I was indecisive about whether or not I really wanted to rebuild the engine. But now it turns out that I have coolant leaking into my heads (bare in mind that this engine had a rebuild 4...

    '76 350 Rebuild

Thanks..I think you're right. There are other things on the car that need to be fixed, I guess I might as well spend the money on those and gas for now. You just saved me a ton of money :). -Jake
