    A-arm removal

I'm doing the a-arms, instaling poly bushings and maybe clean up and paint them. Some sources I read tell me that you have to remove radiator shroud, hoses, and maybe move alternator to get the upper ones out. To me it looks like I can just remove the nuts and bolts from the control arm shaft...

    KYB gas shocks?

Thanks for all the input. I guess Monroe Sensatrac, KYB Gas-a-Just and Delco Reactec are all about the same? (same price range and same design) I would like to know if any of them is firmer than the others though, but I suppose I'll have to buy all three and make a test...

    KYB gas shocks?

I want to replace my (propably 29 y old) shocks to eliminate that nasty "Cadillac Eldorado"-feeling I currently get when I hit a bump. I'm looking at KYB gas shocks (I'm fully aware that adjustable Koni's would be nicer, but they are also 4 times the price...), but what about GR-2 VS...

Tune up question. Eliminate points system?

Dave, HEI came in '75. But so did the cat exhaust, so I'll stick with my '74... :D /Johan

How much power do our C3s get to the wheels??

Hmm, maybe he switched to a transmission with negative loss?? :D

Tune up question. Eliminate points system?

Thanks Dave, Does it work regardless of your type of ignition (points or pertronix or hei)? Where is it installed? Between the coil and dist? I'll have to start with the Pertronix kit first (bought an Ignitor + Pertronix coil on Ebay for $40, so if I'm not satisfied It's not that bad loss) Johan

Tune up question. Eliminate points system?

Neil, The dwell angle is the time (degrees of distributor rotation) that the contact points are closed. Dwell is adjusted by setting the distance between the contact points, and you can do this with a hex wrench trough the little "window" or opening in your distributor cap. Too wide gap=small...

Tune up question. Eliminate points system?

Can someone explain to me exactly how a MSD box works? (I must say that I am a bit sceptical to a plug-in electrical device that will "boost power and give you more mpg". A spark is a spark, and either the gas/air mix will explode or not, right?)

    Missing at low rpm's. Diagnosis?

The first thing you should to is to buy a dwell meter and a timing lamp (you can find kits with theese along with maybe a vacuum meter and compression meter). This is very well invested money, and shouldn't be expensive either. You set the timing by turning the distributor a little bit while...

Tune up question. Eliminate points system?

Setting the dwell is a simple 2 minute job if you just get a dwell meter (just turn one screw while car is running), but ofcourse you'll have to do it every now and then to keep it set correct. Setting the timing (also very simple), will be the same regardless of your type of ignition. I've...

    Edlebrock intake questions

Sorry, I realize the difference now after looking at pictures of a 3701. But the text in the auction must be wrong?

    Edlebrock intake questions

Mike, Thanks for your reply, but I'm still confused. What about this intake (2101): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&category=36474&item=2431720885 To me it looks like it has a plate that cen be removed if you want to use a EGR valve??? /Johan

Funny Story, you have got to hear this.

I've had several people that come up to my '74 and look and ask questions like "Is it fast", and I reply that "Well, it's a 30 year old car so..." and they say "What???? 30 years???" They thought it was new... Also, people have asked if it is a Ferrari...

    Edlebrock intake questions

I'm looking to add an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold to my 1974 L82. Question is: a) in your opinion, will I benefit from putting a Performer intake on a stock L82 engine (with headers), but doing nothing else? What I want is just some extra torque/bottom end power, any thougts welcome...

    Door Handle Spring Install...

Well I had exactly the same problem... Just looked at the spring after reading the instructions and felt like a dumbass... Luckily, my brother in law found out the obvious(?) way to insert the spring. The spring is V-shaped, and "compressing" means flatting it out (opening it to a I-shape)...

    opinon, 74 bumpers

I replaced my cracked urethane with a fibreglass rear bumper some motnths ago. I went for fibreglass mainly because a) I guess it is less trouble to paint, and b) I don't need the rubber flexibility since I don't going to hit anything anyway... :) Mine was the "flexible" fibreglass type, but it...

    Breakerless conversion

I'm considering to upgrade my dist with a Petronix kit, but I would need to have some more input first. Can anyone tell me the difference between the Ignitor, and Ignitor II kits? I have read the info on the Pertronix web site, but will there really be a difference for me, worth going for the...

Does Anybody Have A Picrure Or Diagram To Help Mount A 73 Radio

I have been looking for info on this too. I recently bought a ´71 radio to fit in my ´74. Haven´t tested it yet and don't know if it works, since I mostly bought it for the cosmetical reason. However, the radio have a side post 3-wire connection, and two pigtails with plugs (one male and one...

    New rubber bumper

Yes it doesn't line up at all actually. The new bumper is something like 1/4" narrower than the rear end of the car. Ofcourse you can bend the lower part of the bumper outwards to meet the body, but that doesn't help on the top, in the "corners". Option A is to "build" on the side of the new...
