    Ball joints

Hi, I'm installing new ball joints on my 69 project. The lower ones comes with three bolts for the two mounting holes. Is there a special purpose for the bolt on the left? I know I have installed it on my other car also, but I don't remember why? Should it be on the front or rear side? Also...

    Positraction?

Thanks, it should be a posi then. The diff is off the car, and the axles turns the same direction. Guess I have to use limited slip additive, but what about GL-4 vs. GL-5 gear oil?

    Positraction?

Hi all, How can I tell if I have a posi rear end? I´m installing the diff wich was drained, so my question really is what oil to use. Is it correct that I can use Gl-4 with non-posi but need GL-5 if I do have posi? I do have the "use limited slip differential fluid only" plastic tag so...

    Question: Frame questions

Thanks. The problrem is that the crossmember is on the old frame and I have to transfer it to the new frame. The rubber mounts looks good, but I would like to remove the crossmember without damaging them since a new pair is $100.

    Question: Frame questions

    1) Is there some special trick to remove the differential crossmember? I have removed the bolts, and tried to pry gently with a crowbar, but it doesent move... Should I just throw in the usual exessive force and bad language? 2) I have a replacement frame for my old 69 frame. The new frame is...

    Body lift

Peter, thanks. No, it will not clear as it sits now, but I can raise the scaffold 20 cm and I will remove the wheel dollies. I hope that will be enough. Might have to remove the carb. Not sure if I will use the scaffold though, I might lift it in the rad. support (from a hook in the ceiling)...

    Body lift

Bill, thanks for the pictures. Seems like everybody has their own solutions for lifting. :) From the pictures it looks like it is hanging only from the radiator support and then in the back. I was thinking this too, but was afraind that the entire radiator support would just come loose from the...

    Body lift

I'm ready to lift the body on my '69 (everything is apart, I just need to build a dolly) The left rocker channel is a bit rusted, so I don't like to lift from there. Any other suggestions how or where I can attach the lifting straps? How about the floor panels, are they strong enough to jack...

    body mount repair

Ok. I will lift the body in the coming weeks. Just curious, how did you do the body lift?

    body mount repair

Found it. Seems that only Zip sells it separately. Anyone has done this?

    body mount repair

Hi, I'm removing all body mounts in order to lift the body. Most of the birdcage seems to be ok, but the #3 left side body mount area was completely rusted away. Can this piece be purchased separately? I see that Corvette Central has the entire rocker channel with front and rear piece for $224...

    1969 frame replacement

Ok, I'm going to pick up the new frame tomorrow morning, but I will check when I come back. I did investigate the rear part of the birdcage today, back of the doors, but it seemed ok. What I meant is that if the birdcage is rotten, then I probably have to remove the front clip from the body to...

    1969 frame replacement

No, I'm not sure about the birdcage, I guess I will find out the hard way. It looks ok from what I have seen so far. Some specific problem areas I could check with the body still on the frame? Swapping the frame seems straightforward even though I have not done it before, but I sure hope I...

    1969 frame replacement

Thanks! I'll print that list and put it on the garage wall. Mikey, it looks nice from a distance, but the frame is real bad. Turned out to be an unpleasant surprise for the previous owner who imported it here. I've also seen several posts naming a book that is supposed to be good reference for...

    1969 frame replacement

I just bought a '69 with a rusted out frame. Also included was a replacement frame that is painted and ready. First question is, I have about 100 cm or 40" from the top of the windshield to the garage ceiling, will this be enough to get the frame out from under the body? Rather than lifting it...

    Original side pipes

They are Western Wheels, came with the car when I bought it.

    Original side pipes

I´m looking at a 69 vert. The car has some issues (worst is that the frame needs to be replaced but a replacement frame is included). Anyway, the car has side pipes, and on the DMV (or Swedish equivalent) inspecion there was a complaint that they were too loud. Is there something that can be...

    Question: Aftermarket wheel fit

Nice car and wheels! So, in reality you have 3-5/8 backspacing in the rear? Wich means that with a 9" wide rim and 5" backspacing I would need rather big spacers?

    Question: Aftermarket wheel fit

Hello everybody, I'm thinking of buying a set of 17" wheels, something like this: 17" 17x8 17x9 GRAY WHEELS TIRES CHEVY CAMARO 73-74:eBay Motors (item 330371296059 end time Nov-24-09 07:50:09 PST) Short question; will they fit? What is the difference between camaro and corvette fit really...

    q-jet vacuum question

We probably have different versions of the Q-jet, but my ported vacuum port is actually lower than the full manifold vacuum I now use for the distributor. The best and simplest you can do is just to disconnect a hose and put your finger at the port. If you have vacuum at idle, it is full manifold.
