    Lowering the suspension

If I remember correctly, cutting a coil spring makes it stiffer so your 550lbs springs are actually stiffer than that. If I were to purchase new springs to cut, I'd consider VB&P 460lbs grand touring springs.

    Ditching C3 Seats???

I just purchased C5 seats from a 98 vette. Others have used C4 seats and I saw pics of someone using Fiero seats. I also have seen quite a few conversions to racing seats, so yes you can do it.

Aux heater fan "off" switch wiring thoughts?

I'll second this technique. This is what I did. Just remember, don't cut the wire.

can anyone help me ID what year driveshaft I have?

Thanks for the replies guys. I called Neapco, maker of bruteforce u-joints since I purchased this brand. Their tech support informed me that all spicer driveshaft yokes use a 1330 spicer type u-joint. Turns out I did purchase the correct u-joints. They justed needed a little lite tap with a...

Where can I get a new or reman Diff X-Member?

I just did this about a month ago. I found one for sale by a forum member of another corvette board for $60.00. It has good bushings and had already been sandblasted. Here is one I looked at on ebay...

can anyone help me ID what year driveshaft I have?

Someone installed a Saginaw tranny at some point in the past in my vette. I'm replacing the u-joints and need to confirm what drive shaft and year I have. The end yokes on the shaft say Spicer with part number A3R27. I can't find this part number anywhere on the internet. Any suggestion on how...

T-Arm and Rear End Tear Down 94% Complete

Wow, those are some interesting pics. Glad you discovered the problems now and not while driving 70 mph down the highway. I'm nearing completion of a rear suspension rebuild. Can't wait to get the car back on the road. There is a gentleman named Gary Ramadei who is an expert of rebuilding...

Need help with trailing arm replacement and other items:

I just purchased rebuilt trailing arms and still finishing up with painting all the suspension parts before reinstalling. I purchased my trailing arms from Van Steel. They have an excellent reputation and the trailing arms come with new rotors that have already been checked for runout. I...

makes me feel that it's all been worth it!!

My first job out of college took me to Vero Beach, FL. Sebastian was a little dot on the map. I think Earls use to be one of my customers (was in the wine business). Took my Waverunner to Sebastian inlet and the intercoastal. Good times there.

GM Performance Heads: New large port vortech sbc heads?

I purchased a set of rebuilt vortec heads about 4 years ago. I installed them right on to my stock 350 that has not been rebuilt that I know of. They install just like any other chevy heads with the exception of the vortec specific intake and center bolt valve covers. I had not problems...

    Getting Hotter in Texas

Here is a thread I saved that my offer some suggestions. Also, there is a similar article in one of the corvette magazines this month. Like most of you I've battled the problem of cockpit heat. I think I've finally found a problem in my 74 that may be common to a lot of C3s and which may...

    header question(again)!!!!

The Z-bar is part of the clutch assembly. It mounts on a ball stud on the side of the engine block and to a bracket on the frame on the driver side. If you have a manual transmission, you will see it near the exhaust pipe on the driver side. It also has springs attached to it. When you depress...

    Ceramic finish

The fact that they only give a 90 day warranty says something about their confidence in their product. I have had these headers for about 4 years. The driver side has just a tad of surface rust in a small spot but nothing like yours. In fact, I have not read to many complaints about rusting with...

    header question(again)!!!!

Where about in PA do you live? I'm just outside of Allentown. My experience with headers has been a love/hate relationship. I love the look and sound of headers. I added vortec heads so the headers probably help in power. If you are running a stock engine headers will not add much power. If you...

    center gauge cluster, 81 vette

As I suggested before, go ahead and replace the oil pressure sending unit. They are cheap and this ensures a good starting point. Perform a continuity check on all circuits on the printed circuit board. Also perform a continuity check on the wire from the oil pressure sending unit to the...
