    discontinued items

Part of the problem is that we (Corvette owners and potential owners as a group) hold onto our cars for so long. No other American made car is treated this way. Consider the Corvette is entering its 55th year of production. Do you really expect GM to continue making parts available for all...

    Coolant Leak

Maybe a stupid question but are you sure the wp is installed correctly? The weep hole is at the bottom not the top.

It was ok a few days ago. He might just be having server problems.

    shop manuals

I've even loaned mine to my mechanic when I've needed work done that I didn't feel qualified to do. As for retiredjumpmaster's comment about needing to be a mechanic to understand some places, that's true. These manuals were written primarily for dealership service technicians, so they're...

    No backpressure from gas cap

If there was a problem with your gas cap, for example it's not sealing fully, your "check engine' light would come on. No light, no problem.

    Changing Differential Oil

According to the owners manual: 4 oz of additive 23 oz of gear oil. I'm not sure of the size of the additive bottle (the write-up says two bottles). In any event I add the additive first then fill the rear with gear lube until the level is even with the botom of the fill hole.

    Hi Everyone

The 90 has the L98 engine. While you will eventually want to find a good Corvette mechanic in your area (unless you can and want to do all of the work on your car yourself) there is nothing magical or mysterious about the engine. Any good mechanic should be able to tune it if that's what it...

    New guy with questions

If you intend to do a lot of your own work the first thing you should buy is a Factory Service Manual (FSM) for your model year. Good luck with the car.

    shop manuals

You done good I've seen them cheaper, but sometimes it's better to pay up a little for immediate gratification rather than waste time trying to save a few bucks.

    shop manuals

If you only got one book for $100 you got screwed. The electrical "supplement" is actually book two of a two book set. It covers electrical, emissions and drivability diagnostics. Book one covers everything else.

    coolant level

That leak is not uncommon with C4s. Unless the leak is extreme or really bothers you I would let it go until you need some real engine work done, or you could do it yourself, the L98 isn't that hard to work on.

Helms issued both the preliminary (white cover) and the final (red cover). So you should care what color the cover is.

    coolant level

If it was a cracked block or blown headgasket you would have either coolant mixing with oil or the combustion chamber. Check your exhaust for white "smoke" (steam. Also check your radiator cap, if you have a buildup of brownish goo on the bottom of the cap you probably have oil in you cooling...

    shop manuals

The 93 series consists of two books; book two is the drivability, electrical and emissions diagnostics, book one is everything else. 1986 may be only one book. (I'm not sure what model year they expanded to two books). Also, make sure you get the red cover book. There is a white cover which...

The newer engines, LTx and LSx, are designed to run hot. Your temps are normal. Temps of 180-190 were good for the older, first gen small blocks.

    Vettes are fast!

And for the price of a Veyron, 1,000,000.00 euros or about $1,350,000.00, you could have two Z06s of every color and enough money left over to build a nice 14 bay climate controled garage to house them. Your choice. BTW I understand there are still 150 of the 300 Veyrons unsold. Some guys...

Looking to buy a C4 86-88! suggestions, cautions!

You don't even need the casting numbers to check the heads just use a magnet. If it sticks the car has cast iron heads, if not they're aluminum.
