:welcome
As Kane said most guys just don't understand them. I didn't so when I was looking for mine I'd eliminated the 82 as an option. Now I now a little more I would consider one. (not sure about that auto only though, could be converted to manual I guess)
If you do get one, enjoy the car...
I thought I remembered him saying he was but lately he's been talking about designing machinery. Quite a difference between the two. Either he wasn't very good at one (or both) and changed career, or one was a hobby?
Not sure how good this chart really is, as there are polarity sensitive components and other components which can fail without effecting those results in the regulator.
Why not just use an electric timer to switch a solenoid and use that to control the vacuum? You could set it to however long is needed then, which is probably still longer than your coffee can is giving you.
Tag looks fine to me. I wouldn't say it's a bogus tag. More likely to be a thorough paint job. You may still have a copy of the original build sheet on top of the fuel tank which will confirm one way or another. It's a PIA to read without dropping the tank though. (But not impossible)
Could be any number of reasons why it was changed.
Damaged in an accident. owner preferred the look of the older ones. The trim tag is a bit of an odd one though. Do you have a photo of it? I'm curious to see this bogus tag.
Sounds like something isn't in as it should be.
Check this older thread http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/forums/c4-general-discussion/101762-c4-headlight-assembly-motor.html
the link in the thread has also changed, it's now http://content.mamotorworks.com/pdf/601701article.pdf
Hope that helps
