Gear Change
I would think you can just put a new gear on the speed sensor. The gear is just a plastic one, and can be changed out to accomdate such things.
When I put the 6 speed Richmond tranny in my car, they told me which gear to put in. I would think you could be able to figure out how...
Ken,
As you may remember, I've put the richmond 6-speed in back in July and it's running great. But now that it's gotten cold here in Michigan (it was about 20F this morning), the shifter is VERY stiff when it's cold. Take about 10 minutes to loosen up a bit.
Is this stiffness coming from...
I should update the site now that I have a couple of thousand miles on the trans. The noise has subsided quite a bit, and when cruising, you don't even notice. About the only time you really notice it is when going hard in 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear.
I couldn't be happier with the way it has turned...
I've done numerous mods over the years to my 86 that have affected the calculations of the miles/gallon display. I WISH it were true, but it always displays around 20-24 MPG, when in reality it runs between 15-20mpg.
So the question is, can I get the equipment to program my own proms to mess...
Having to clean out the throttle body every now and then, I was wondering what actually causes this carbon build up? There's no ignition occuring inside the throttle body (or before it), just mostly ambient temp air passing through it.
So what's the deal?
The lights are replaceable in the dash. Simple bulbs. Just remove the cluster cover with a phillips screwdriver, and there are 4 bulbs under those little metal covers.
Do it yourself!
If I were you I'd buy the cover for the cushion myself, and attach it yourself.
I upholstered boths seats (cushions and back) in my 86 and it was easier than you think. The seat cushion was the easiest of all, since it's simple to remove.
I bought my cover from...
Yeah, it doesn't really need to be that big.
Think of it this way. Let's say you get 20MPG, and you're travelling at 60mph. You only need to flow 1 gallon of gas in 20 minutes. That's a pretty small amount. That's only 6 ounces of gas every minute, less than 1 cup!
I had flushed everything when I converted over. But it *IS* the original compressor. From what I understand, R134 is smaller molecules, which could leak in a system which might hold R12. I'm no chemist, so this might be someone blowing smoke...
Anyone have any opinions about buying a...
3M makes in Interior Adhesive. You can carefully peel the headliner back, spray the adhesive, wait til tacky than reapply the headliner. If you very careful, you can tuck the edge of the headliner back under the frame.
It's time to change out my compressor on my '86. I converted the system over for 134 with everything new last year except for the compressor. Amazingly, it's still original.
The question is, do I buy a compressor made for r12 or one for r-134?
Any part number and source would be greatly...
I would reconsider if I were you. I replaced ALL the carpeting in my 86, and it took only about 5 hours, while in the parking lot of the apartment I lived in at the time. All you need is a screw driver, a ratchet with a couple of sockets, and some adhesive.
All due respect, it's just not true. All the resevoir really needs is enough so that air isn't sucked into the system at any time, like during a hard corner. You could fill the resevoir 1/4 full and that would be enough.
Richmond 6-Speed Install is DONE!!!
Finally! Got it all back together tonight. Installation turned out to be much easier than taking it apart. Always seems to be the case...
I did have one BIG scare. When I first turned the motor over (in neutral), I heard a huge BANG from under the hood...
