If performance is the only factor then the 69 or 70 would probably win by a hair. The '72 motors were detuned a little bit (mostly lower compression) versus the earlier sharks and I'm not sure that the LT-1 specs would compensate for that over a base '70 (someone is bound to correct me soon.)...

Seriously, ZL-1 or L-88 would have worked for something this thorougly infused with pure, unadulterated awesome.
This car would make even Chuck Norris' knees weak.
I'm not buying any of the chicken-little cow-pies at this point.
My car, a 1972, was built at the entry point for the last round of serious automotive emasculation. A few years earlier the L-88s were tearing up the pavement with 500+ HP while the "best" car available in '72 had a 270HP...
