    The timing should advance once the EST is reconnected. ECM should take over timing at that point. i would like at ignition module first.

    Pull the the guts out of the smog pump and just run it as an idler.

    IACs will be positioned for startup, so yeah they'll be open. Check TBIs and the manifold top plate gaskets may need replacing depending on age and DON'T USE silicone sealer for gaskets.

    If TBIs are installed, you can key ON and energize the fuel pump. Then watch to see if injectors drip. any of the plugs look steamed? How about head gaskets? What do they look like?

    You'll need to parallel plumb the TBIs in order to use them. Also, will need an external fuel pressure regulator connected to a vacuum port to vary pressure. EBL great choice to manage this. i still may have a couple of these from my 84.

    The 84 hood has channels built into it that directed air to the air cleaner assembly over the TBIs. Need to check if those channels would interfere w hood closing over TPI.

    If you are asking relative to a Xfire, it's because it's a wet manifold altho I did have it on my 84 once I swapped to EBL ECM.
