Help! 69 Overheating - Big Block

I still have to believe due to low speed, low idle overheating, you have a air flow issue due to your fan not pulling air through the radiator. How about the electric fan? Is it spinning the right way? My Vette is the opposite. I run cooler at low revs, and warmer (but not too warm) on the...

Help! 69 Overheating - Big Block

Sounds like a possible smoking gun. What about the electric fan? Is it blowing the right direction?

Help! 69 Overheating - Big Block

Having direct no clutch fan should cool just fine. Did it overheat before you put the electric fan on? If the electric fan isn't working properly, it might be blocking airflow.

    Bad Shock

I concur. Seems like a cheap fix, although I have no stones to throw. I replaced my back shocks, but not the front. The previous owner put a fiberglass mono spring on the back, and it bounced like a trampoline before shock replacement. I used Monroe, but they're only 3 years old, so I don't...

Help! 69 Overheating - Big Block

Mikey, I am curious about number 4. How does a faulty rubber radiator seal affect temps, as long as the shroud/fan is working? OP, did you replace the clutch fan with the electric one?

Help! 69 Overheating - Big Block

Your engine is running cool when going fast enough for air to get pushed up by your air dam, but it's over heating while idling. Your water pump, and radiator must be working, or it would be over heating all the time, so your fan must not be doing its job. Do you have a fan shroud? It is...

    Front wheel bearings

I had to replace my front bearings on my 92 Camaro. When it was on the hoist, the wheels could be moved, as in play that shouldn't be there. The problem was the wheel bearings were warn. Is it possible to do this inspection on a c3 vette? You tell me. they made noise when I reached 70 mph...

Happy 4th back. I see three c3's, which is the 3rd one?

82 rear end drop when shift into drive

If the shocks are good, then wouldn't it squat the same, but slower?

    1982 Corvette

It took me a long time to find a good c3 also. I would look at a car that looked good in the pics, but were at best in need of full restoration, and often only good for parts. I looked at one that was in poor condition, too many details to go into. I was feathering the throttle cause it...

    Question: Horse power

Amen to that. From what I've read, you can get a 180 hp L48 to push past 200 hp just by helping it breath better, like an open element air cleaner, and duels, w/chambered mufflers. As far as being passed by Honda Civics and the like, the newer cars are "horse power in a can". Old school just...

    1984 ecm in a 1982 corvette

If you are looking to increase performance, you could look into a hypertech performance chip, but I don't know what your results will be. Best to put the original one back so it runs correctly.

'82 Crossfire with 700R4 tranny question

Boy do I remember the powerglide! Anyway after answering your post, I forgot to mention that I manually shift almost every auto tranny on older Chevies. I usually never agree with the shift points, even with the TV cable adjusted properly, not to mention how boring it is just to put it in D...

'82 Crossfire with 700R4 tranny question

You may get what you want if you adjust the transmission cable. When you pull it out, the higher RPM your tranny will shift. I have the cable all the way out on my 92 Camaro, but I still manually shift cause it upshifts too fast for me. It's not gonna hurt anything, and it's not really a...

Will wider tires fit my 77?

SVO, would you know if I'd have clearance issues if I went with 245's instead of 255's?

Will wider tires fit my 77?

I am considering wider tires for the sake of appearance. I too have the stock rally wheels which answers that question. It appears that starting in 78, 255's were an option, but not in 77. Maybe the parking brake cable bracket was relocated after 77? It sounds like a minor task, so if that's...

Will wider tires fit my 77?

I am looking at replacing the tires which are 225/70/R15 with a wider tire 255/60 R-15. Does anybody have experience with this? Will there be clearance issues? Any input would be helpful.

    Confused

I don't know if this is helpful, but I had a similar issue when I owned my IROC. The cig lighter would stay in too long, and the fuse blew. I just can't remember what else was on that fuse, but there were other instruments connected to that fuse. I just gutted the lighter so no one would...

Tire size compatablility for a 77

You appear to be making my point, although they don't look mounted, or inflated. Or they are your bike tires.;)

    L48 Cars with FE7 Suspension?

It seems typical of GM to be inconsistent with with issues like this. A while back I had a 86 IROC, but it came from the factory with the base Lg4 engine. There were great suspension upgrades on it, but is stands to reason that it should have automatically come with the TPI, but it didn't...
