Family Sues General Motors for Father's Death Due to Corvette Door Locks

Not trying to be flippant where someone's death is concerned either; just thinking through the things I'd be doing if I was in the same situation...

    Steering Column Lock - Solution???

Always good when the simple solutions work out! As far as the key fobs go, you probably just have to re-synch them with the car; that's typical after loss of battery power. The procedure should be in your Owner's Manual, but the long and short of it is hold both the "LOCK" and "UNLOCK" buttons...

Family Sues General Motors for Father's Death Due to Corvette Door Locks

Or for that matter, pull out cell phone and dial "9-1-1", if it's life-and-death serious. Was this the only guy in Texas without a cell phone...?

Family Sues General Motors for Father's Death Due to Corvette Door Locks

I agree that GM probably should not be held liable for this death. But are you telling me that no one patronizing this Waffle House came to this guy's aid...?! That he couldn't get the attention of anyone who passed by his car the entire time up he was trapped inside his C6 in the Waffle House...

Mr. Sam (Dadaroo) Passed Suddenly Yesterday !

Saddened to hear about this. Prayers and condolences to the family.

    Headlights always open and on.

Welcome! :w What you're describing sounds a bit like the Twilight Sentinel being on; but I don't recall what year that feature became available (my '98 Owner's Manual doesn't mention it, but my '04 manual does). If yours is equipped, check the setting by consulting your Owner's Manual on the...

    Help! c5 convertible window ajustment

Welcome! :w I want to say there's an instruction guide for this task around the forum somewhere. Try searching through the Forum's C5 Knowledgebase. Good luck!

Sorry Guys,I ain't been around much.....................................

Hard to believe it's been that long already... But I figured corn squeezin's was corn squeezin's -- whether it came out of Granny's jug or the pump down to the corner (i.e., ethanol)... ;)

Sorry Guys,I ain't been around much.....................................

How well do you think a catalytic converter would handle Granny's Go Juice...? ;)

Video: C5 Corvette Crashes into Wall

I often describe that same observation by saying: Traction control only works when one has traction... ;)

Video: C5 Corvette Crashes into Wall

Right on the mark, "Junkman." This kind of thing is exactly what concerns me about cars like the C7 and Challenger Hellcat -- vehicles with well in excess of the C5's horsepower, yet affordable to people who potentially have little or no experience whatsoever with a high-performance vehicle...

Sorry Guys,I ain't been around much.....................................

Tempting thought; but the moon-bats are more irritating than the ants -- who at least, unlike the moon-bats, mind their own business...

    Detonation

OP describes it as such; he hears knocking, albeit at idle. Just following Sherlock Holmes' method: eliminate what it isn't, and what's left is the answer... Let's let him answer the questions put to him instead of opining on his behalf...

Where were you when the world stopped turning….?

I know exactly what you mean. Hard to believe we've already put 14 years between today and that day... It was a very odd day for me. I was actually on board a commercial flight, en route from Pittsburgh to Kansas City, when the attacks began. For whatever reason, our flight was permitted to...

    Detonation

Since you specifically didn't mention it, I'll ask: you're not using lower octane/cheap (i.e., not Top Tier) fuel, are you?

Sorry Guys,I ain't been around much.....................................

There ain't enough cinnamon in the world the help me there; I've got a 0.7 acre lot in Lorena, TX that's infested with fire ants... :ugh A lot of parents in the '60 would have liked to have known that... (I think you meant "beetles") ;)

Could this be a 'grounding' issue? 99 C5

I suspect this is a secondary issue; if everything got electrically reset, as it were, the RFA system probably lost the most-recent security code assigned to the key fob(s). This often happens when the battery is disconnected or dies. All you should have to do is get near the car with your key...

The Car is Packed and Corvettes at Carlisle Awaits

Hi, Jack! In my case #15 refers to the production sequence of the Aztec Gold C5's. I frankly don't know what number I've got on my gate pass (it's in Pittsburgh, I'm currently in Alabama), but I'm sure it's probably up in the thousands; sounds like you bought your gate pass early if it's #51...
