    '81 CCC Performance and Timing

Yep. The guy who rebuilt it machined the throttle plates for a good seal, but failed to clearance the secondary jet wells. He also insatlled a screw, one of the three on the bottom, too long. It bottomed out before sealing the gasket. Although he did a fine job, a few details caused a vacuum...

    81 rough idle

Buy a set of rubber vacuum plugs. Disconnect every port on the carb and manifold except the map sensor. Plug em all. See if it runs better. If so, add them back one by one till you find the culprit. Cost you $3.00 at the Zone, NAPA, etc.

    MC Solenoid?

You need the right tools/gauges to set these solenoids when replaced. My concern is the lack of dwell reading. The solenoid just reacts to this signal, the ECM supplies it.

Cris, Thanks for posting the numbers. I'll check tomarrow on what I read as stock #s. Now that I finally have my 700_R set to shift the way I want it, and the carb mess straightened out, I have been impressed with the performance.

    81 Carb Gurus

Final settings. Float .420, solenoid ht 1.305", travel 4/32", idle mix 3 1/3 turns, Idle bleed 30* M/C dwell. Runs pretty good, but still a slight miss at idle. Off to chase another goose. I believe I have eliminated the carb. Capped all vacuum lines, no change. Next is possible new plug wire or...
