    Tire Pressure

This post left me wondering about a couple of things and I made trips to visit a couple of fellow club members and their cars to clear up the questions I had. O.K., first, I wondered about the statement that the tire had a max tire pressure of 35 psi. Looking at a BFG TA radial side wall, in...

    Tire Pressure

You may be over thinking this but if it truely worries you, then run pure nitrogen instead of air in your tires. Under inflation is a bigger tire killer than over inflation.

    32-36 PSI cold.

Help! No Power, No lights, No nothing:

I would suspect the battery cables. They are made of copper clad aluminum wire and are subject to internal corrosion. Also, check the negative battery cable connection to the frame, as it is exposed to wheel splash in wet weather and such.

Question on Corvette Central Dual exhaust

It's just a bolt-on change over. You are just retro fitting a pre-1974 exhaust system to your later model car. The only hanger you will need is the "bat wing" that bolts on at the rear transmission mount. Your existing hanger at that location is for a single exhaust pipe. You will need a hanger...

    Help! 1978 brake problem

The brake rotors is/was riveted to the front hub or the rear spindle. The brake caliper is bolted to the caliper support. But what you are experiencing is classic excessive rotor run-out. The factory shop manual has the procedure and the spec's for checking the run-out.

Help! Help me get my engine running smoothly please.

I believe that the choke light being on indicates that the choke isn't energized. I also believe that it gets it's power from the charging circuit, which can indicate that the alternator may have a problem. I base that on helping a friend many years ago troubleshoot his '81's choke light. In his...

    1979 Electrical Questions

FWIW, going into the dash can be a major task. Been there more than once with a couple of different cars, but if you take your time, it's doable. In pulling the dash, you will need to drop the steering column down to get the instrument cluster out. Since you may have issues with the steering...

    Evaporative Cannister on '79 Vette

It's been a while, but I believe that there is also a plastic valve assembly that's located by the gas tank that is part of the evap system. There is a metal line that runs down the driver's side frame rail from the charcoal cannister at the the front to the gas tank. There are a couple of...

    Evaporative Cannister on '79 Vette

Try looking down under the brake booster. It's a black coffee can with a vacuum valve on top. It should be mounted on a small splash pan down under there.

    Question: Headers to factory pipers?

Do you currently have an under the car exhaust system hooked up to your headers? If so, it is probably the stock system adapted to your headers. Which means you can compare your new exhaust system to your existing and have a pretty good idea what needs to be modified to match back up to your...

    Confused on brakes

The lip seal pistons are different from the o-ring pistons, so you can't mix the two systems. A o-ring seal installed on a lip seal piston will not fit the caliper bore. A lip seal on a o-ring piston won't seal against the caliper bore. There's a reason I and Vette Brakes know this.....

Help! No lights, no clock, no radio - nothing

The clutch safety switch is just a on-off type switch, similar to the brake light switch. You can use a voltmeter to check the continuity across the switch or jumper around the switch to see if the car will crank.

Wipers wont park when I set the dash switch to off on my 70 LT-1

Are you saying that the wipers won't park or are the wipers parking and the wiper cover isn't closing? The switch for parking the wiper arms is built into the wiper motor, and if the arms are not parking, the problem could be in the motor. If the arms are parking and the cover isn't closing...

Question: Front speaker install for '71...and rear speaker suggestions?

Your original dash speakers mount to a die cast speaker mount and the speaker mount uses short mounting screws to attach to the bottom side of the dash pad. Which means you pretty much have to use the original speaker mount to mount a speaker, and the original speakers are a weird size. Which...

    1981 AC/Fuse Question?

To elaborate on Peer81's answer, the fuse block is a big electrical plug. The dash wiring harness is hard wired into the fuse block; The other half of the "plug" is the forward lighting harness, located in the engine compartment. There is a bolt that holds the two half's of the plug securely...

    WTB '72 BB Quadajet Carb

If it is a 704221 Q-jet for a '72 big block 4 speed, I would be interested in talking to you about it. Would it be possible to get pictures emailed to me at rstephenson at orbitworld dot net? Thanks, Bob

    Question: Paint issues

If the cracks are in the paint and not the panel, then you need to sand the cracks out to remove them. If not removed, they will come back thru your new paint. If you sand them out, you will end up with a low spot and the Feather Fill will work fine to fill the low spot. Main thing is, any...

    Question: Paint issues

Sorry but No, Feather Fill will not repair a star crack. Only resin & matt will if you want to fix it properly.

Help! No lights, no clock, no radio - nothing

Fusible Link Sounds as if you may have blown a fusible link. A fusible link is a inline fuse built into the wiring harness. There are two - 12 gauge wires that come off of the starter solenoid that powers the rest of the car. Those two 12 gauge wires will each have a 14 gauge fusible link. To...
