The sock strainer on the fuel pick-up in the tank is just a slip fit and may no longer still be on the end of the line. I would suggest dropping the tank and cleaning it. The sock filter is a inexpensive part and should be replaced while the tank is out.
Interesting post.
For whatever reason, you only have half a trim tag. The bottom section of the trim tag has been clipped off. The other set of rivets that are painted over? I'm guessing that those rivets are approximately 1 inch or so to the right and left of the trim tag. If so, they are...
Shouldn't be a problem swapping a painted one for a chromate one. Just compare the new one to your original before installing it. I have never found the gold coating to be very durable, so you may want to consider applying a semi-gloss clear coat to maintain the color.
Good luck with your project.
First off, Welcome back to Texas & to Houston. Nice looking car you have there.
Second, Good luck on Top Flight-ing your car. That will be a fun challenge.

Last couple of years, seems like several cars, and tow rigs have been stolen. I see the appeal of the Dream Cruise but given it's past thief history, I don't know that I would want to bring a classic to the event.
On the lower control arms, in the spring pocket, there is a indent that the end of the coil spring is suppose to fit in. It's easy to spot, as it has a small drain hole drilled in the spring pocket.
Earthway, you are falling into a troll trap. If you choose to follow any advice offered up by TooBroke, you need to exercise extreme caution in doing so.
I have 40 plus years of rattling around chemical plants and I have never seen or heard of nitro-methane used as a industrial solvent. At a cost of around $50 a gallon, nitro-methane isn't exactly cheap.
The '63's and '64 frames were never designed from the very beginning to accept a big block motor. To put a big block (or a W block for that matter) in a '63/'64 requires modifying the front cross member to clear the balancer.
And given my size 13 clodhoppers, I wish Zora would have move things...
I've never messed with automatic transmissions except to change the fluid & filter on a regular basis. I thought that the shift point was whatever the governor was set at and wasn't dependent on the rear axle ratio. It was going to shift at whatever RPM it was set at. So I'm curious about what...
I would check with O'Reilly's or AutoZone to see if they have a spring compressor that you can rent or borrow.
If you really wanting to buy one, the one I have is the KD brand and I have no idea if they are still around. I find that I tend to use it about once every 10 years or so, which is why...
A '78 spare tire carrier will hold a stock aluminum rim with a deflated P255-60-15 tire.
If I'm not mistaken, '75 or '76 was when GM went to a reduced size spare. Before that, you got a full size tire on a stock steel rally wheel.
The spare tire rim for my '78 was painted bright yellow...
Zombie thread back from the dead.
Have picked up a complete rear suspension and 4 sp transmission out of a 69 small block car according to codes on the housing. Guy I got it from says that he has had it 40 or so years. I trust his word from previous dealings with him. Only downside is a torch...
Kane - Datedness is remembering looking at the new for '68's Corvettes sitting on the Mike Persia Chevrolet lot... in 1968. ;LOL
Let us hope the Reproduction market will cater to our desires & wishes.
It's difficult to figure out what the reproduction people will and won't offer for our cars. With '68 C3's approaching 50 years old, most people probably looking at restoring C3 cars and not modifying them. I'm surprised that some items, like the Hooker side mount headers, are still being...
