    Wet carpet on passenger floor

tlvt, I had this problem on my 1999 C5 coupe, which immobilized the car for five days while I was out-of-state. If water enters the computer compartment in the right foot-well, it can ruin the computer (water follows the wiring harness). Here is how to unclog the a/c condensate drain: It is...

    The Fun Continues

I feel your pain.I see Chevrolet is still having problems with quality and reliability.I special ordered a 1999 C5 coupe in June 1998 - the car's build and delivery was delayed by the UAW's walkout.Against my better judgement, I purchased the car new when it arrived and it broke down three...

Do I need GM puller to remove my Wheel?

Bluemill, I had a rattle that I swore was coming from the dash from the day I purchased my 1999 C5 coupe new. I checked a lot of things but to no avail. One day when I opened my hood, I saw the right front hinge "lift" where it attaches to the front frame rail (near the front of the car, to...

Stupid GM badges stick up a good car!

Nothing - that's what I was doing. However, if I offended anyone - I apologize.

Stupid GM badges stick up a good car!

You don't own a Corvette and you are worried about a new emblem placed on all GM cars, including the Corvette? When you get your Corvette, removed the GM emblem and don't worry so much about things you can not change.

    Steering Wheel Insert

I purchased a C5 steering wheel decal insert from Vette Essentials and I am VERY pleased with its quality and how it sticks to the cover. Follow the instructions EXACTLY, including cleaning well with alcohol and allowing the car to sit in the sun (top off or top down) after the decal is...

    Turn signal bulb

I just bought one - the GM part number is 12450182. The list price is $7.81. It is a special bulb with a high temperature base, required due to the daytime running lamp feature. I don't know where to tell you to order it on the net, but I thought the part number would help. Good luck.

    Heip! Turn signal flasher!

The turn signal flasher is part of the four-way hazard switch. Yes, the top dash pad must be removed to reach the part (stupid engineering.....). I have read that cycling the hazard switch on and off several times may correct the problem. Good luck.

    Rough idle

I changed the original Delco plugs in my 1999 C5 coupe (A4) at 30,000 miles and replaced them with Delco plugs. Although the plugs are rated at 100,000 miles, the idle was MUCH smoother when I replaced the plugs. The original plugs all looked the same, just slightly discolored. Try...

Best method to change your own oil?

jnj, On my 1999 C5 coupe, I raise the LF of the car with a floor jack and a jacking pad - then place a jackstand under the frame near the jack. I lay under the car, remove the drain plug and filter, and lower the car for the oil to drain. I let the oil drain for 30 minutes, then repeat the...

    Rubber Gasket Mntce

A new product recently released by GM is "Synthetic Lubricant with Teflon" - GM part #12371287 (3 oz. tube). It has a useful range of -40 F to 400 F. I have used this on my 1999 C5 coupe weatherstrips. It is not as greasy as the silicone dielectric grease also recommended, and seems to "soak...

REAL REAL Cost on '06 C6

Determining the "real" cost that a dealer pays (and profit made) is almost impossible. In addition to the holdback paid by GM when a vehicle is sold, there are other incentives for selling certain vehicles, with certain options, in certain amounts, in certain regions, etc. etc. The dealer...

    What exhaust would you prefer?

Stock exhaust. "Loud" exhaust systems should be reserved for racetracks. Nothing ruins the peace and quiet of a neighborhood when a vehicle (m/c or car) zooms past with a loud exhaust.
