original steering wheel specs and shipping ideas

Same here - no help but WELCOME ABOARD!!! If it is teak, it's valuable. Mine is a leather covered metal one. Nearly all are 14", some 15". It's taken several years to find an undersized one for the unusual vette center pattern.

    Another "EBAY" gem.......

Just wait..... THE GREAT BIG KALI EARTHQUAKE!!! ;LOL

    anti-freeze

Antifreeze also greatly increases boiling point....BUT.... ethylene glycol does carry and transfer less heat than water, both per mass and volume. Worse still is propylene glycol...the active ingredient in "low tox"....I hate that I have to use it, but I have one severe allergy - oddly, to...

    Dodged a bullet

More make sure your alt/wp belt is OK You don't need PS or AC....been without the former for 18 months and the latter since I owned the heap!

See if you guess what I find wrong tomorrow

Testing your email link - and hope you are wrong! Can't SEE it, but I don't know yet....valves both held a pile of carb cleaner in the ports for 5 mins with no leaks.... ----- nah, L48, all valves were working fine before....with a little ruler they all made 1/2" + at the valve.....

    power steering pump brackets?

*MINE* is CHROME PLATED!!! ...but you two don't even HAVE ONE!!! ;LOL (Sorry....I'm just evil.....) In fact, not only is my #1 CHROME PLATED, but so is my #13, my #7, my #6, my #10 and EVEN my #11 & my #12!!! (Not only THAT - but MY PS hasn't even been CONNECTED IN FIFTEEN MONTHS...

What supplies should i get or carry around with me?

You have a cavernous closet to store things compared to me..... But...nestled around the battery I have a quart of the "big four": oil, atf, psfluid (yes - they are different - ATF only in emergencies is for PS), brake fluid (pint), WD40, carb cleaner, RainX, funnel. In the other side I...

    Another "EBAY" gem.......

But all it needed was an interior and an exterior and four holes in the valve covers for the plug wires! :L

See if you guess what I find wrong tomorrow

Well, Craig32 & L48 are out of the running.... ....unless it's microscopic..... [breathing exaggerrated sigh of relief]..... Spanishvettes & JDP6000 are still in the game - we'll have to wait until Monday or better when a shop can check the heads and valves. No visible damage to...

    Need Cam + Heads Advice

Edelbrock sells more heads than pretty much every other non-auto mfg combined. Surprised you haven't seen more on them. All the entry level heads are decent. AFR's are kinda the favorite at the moment, TF got some bad press a few years ago with some QC probs on the final assy. I have...

See if you guess what I find wrong tomorrow

From the following symptoms, take a guess at what I find wrong tomorrow: It didn't take long to find the weird scary mystery noises that were getting worse and worse in the engine - so bad I had it towed home from work to not damage anything worse. Tomorrow I tear off the intake and the head...

    Glass fuel filter housing

You know...the only fuel fire I recall ever having was when SOME moron (who shall remain unidentified to avoid embarassing me) took the top of an AFB and carefully laid it square on the alternator stud... :ugh :cry :W Oddly we got it out pretty quickly and didn't totally trash the carb...

Exhaust ideas for my ... Shark!

You know, that's not quite as crazy as you may think... First of all, I'd check to make sure no one does....I have some weird memory of seeing such an animal...it's also possible Hooker themselves may make a custom for a popular price (that being one THEY like! :L ) But, more realistically...

    Question for serious motorheads

No, it shouldn't affect it.... I have yet to hear a single report of this being a problem. Plus, I realize I may not have made sense or communicated worth a hoot when I reread my last babbling....this wouldn't make any difference whether the heater was in or out - looped or not. I...

    I can't believe this :-((((

Cheer up! Big electrical failures are not a huge deal... worry more about constantly blowing fuses on everything, ignition/computer erratic behaviors. Nah, the rain won't hurt that. C3 wipers are an iffy proposition to begin with....mine have never "failed", per se, but love to sword fight...

    Question for serious motorheads

No heater! :L Sorry.... :D Nah, should do the same thing, although I'm not sure the usual heater rig and such a short circuit doesn't imbalance the return flow through the heads...but not sure (I don't believe it's a problem). I know water pump manufacturers jump through hoops to...

I can't help myself, they keep coming out of the woodwork....

Exactly! I'm lazy, so I rarely even look on EBay for car stuff... Most the time I have bothered to look I find junk for premium prices - "premium junk"! :L I always love the people on the vette forums who find Zora's backup car with the wrong tires on ebay or whereever - so they wouldn't...

    Replace Alternator every 2 Years??????

In general, the output voltage will not change, but when it kicks in and at what low rpm it won't is varied a lot by the pulley size. Put a large enough pulley on the alternator or a small enough one on the drive (crank) and you won't start charging to any degree until 2500 or even more rpm...

    and it only gets better....

NO! Keep 'em up! You find some JEWELS!!! :upthumbs :beer :_rock BTW, when did the glove compartment and such come in? 77? When did the alternator get put on the right? Ever on C3 vettes? Looks like an older single plane torker type manifold and a holley, headers....

    and it only gets better....

Not necessarily a ripoff - a conversion....looks identical to my 75 ragtop I suspect mine was hit front-rear and they put on the aftermarket 82 style nose and ass and, while at it, the "super" L88+ hood. It's entirely possible the same thing occured here - no vin switch, just a lot of...
