That would be why they cammo up a C6 mule ...
... just to feed the rumor mill and keep the hype going. Where the body is exposed on top, notice how the roof dips in the middle and there are eyebrows over the doors. It's a C6 targa top.
It might be a test mule wrapped in C6 skin.
The camo-wrap was certainly engineered to hide as much as possible and even to suggest things that aren't there. Both the taillights and headlights look more like flexible plastic covers to obscure the real forms underneath, but the overall size and...
Absuloment, mon ami!
And the Griffon is to the Merlin what the 427 is to the 396. It's the same block but upgraded and on steroids. The Brits put it in the late-model Spitfires and made them even more bad-ass. Most of the top P-51s at the Reno air races are sporting Griffons and setting the...
I vote no.
Two seats are plenty and the marque remains awesome. All Corvette needs is an entry-level version priced around 40K and it will weather out the Depression ... I mean ...... ah ..... recession.
That's a nickel flipper ...
... although I can see the reasoning for a "budget" Corvette. Another possibility, which has popped up in this forum before, is a V6 alternative based on the Solstice and Skye platform. On the one hand, the engineering is already in place, but the other side of the...
Looks like direct injection for sure.
It's already in production elsewhere and is the most efficient kind of induction. The new Corvette engine will need that extra efficiency to pull the horses out of fewer cubes. Don't know about turbos, though ... much less reliable, expensive to plumb in...
That's a good point.
C5s are very affordable now and You can even shop for just the right combination and still find a clean one at a good price. I'll be seeking a gunmetal, auto trans, HUD coupe next year and nice ones can be found under $15,000. I could even afford an early C6, but they...
Great article, Bruce,
Concise and well-written with plenty of attribution and a well-conceived industry analysis. I like how you keep an open mind and don't pander to all the pre-conceived notions being pandered as absolutes.
BTW Hib ... the word is "losing" not "loosing."
Amen.
Direct injection is the most efficient induction system ever devised, so it stands to reason it will find a home in the C7. GM has a history of trying out new technology in specialized packages. Remember the Quad 4? It led to engines like the Northstar V8, so their Indy 4 might be...
Well of course not ...
... no one would expect a V16. No need to sneer when musing about cylinder counts. I still doubt the Jalopnik version represents the finality you seem to ascribe it because factories go to great lengths to hide their unreleased designs and often endeavor to feed...
